If one believes in a God, then maybe the "natural" state of things can be viewed as how he intended things to be.

 

And I will say again that is a very shallow view. Consider species like bees. Very few bees in any colony will reproduce. Only the queen and drones do. Under your reasoning that animals are here to reproduce or they die out would mean that bees are dying out. Leaving aside colony collapse disorder, bees and other social insects have survived for millions of years even with only a very small minority of them reproducing. Homosexuality may also play a social role in species survival which is why it is prevalent in so many different species.

You can claim that is speculation but it is a scientific fact that homosexuality is present in several species on levels that are more than just an aberration and in our species has been known throughout history and most likely also before recorded history. If homosexuality was an aberration due only to willful choice it is unlikely we would see it across so many species or throughout human history and in every culture.

 

it seems so obvious, I dont understand why some still dont see it. We are all humans, and we all know that we never made a conscious "choice" to like who or what we like...why is it so hard to see that this applies to ALL humans, not just the straight ones?

It has to be a religious thing....to the deeply religious, to admit that we have no control over who we are attracted to is to admit that God intended for homosexuals to be, and they cant bear that thought. The really funny thing is that the Bible passages normally quoted as justification for discriminating against gay folks is in the Old Testament, which supposedly doesnt count anymore since Christ brought the new covenant. That is why you dont see Christians calling for certain sinners to be put to death as it calls for in the Old Testament.

Basically, Christianity took the Hebrew Bible(OT) and added their own stuff(NT) to make it their own.

What is your proof for the reverse claim? Common sense and logical reasoning points to homosexuality not being a choice on the basis that one cannot "choose" sexual preference. If you have more logical evidence, bring it forth.

 

I know that I didn't choose which gender I am attracted to.

 

If homosexuality is a choice then it can be logically assumed that all humans are capable of making that choice and humans choose to be straight and not gay. Now I ask all those who believe homosexuality is a choice such as bigtexxx, as a straight man how difficult will it be for you to suppress your sexual desire for women and have sexual relations with men? If straight men made the choice to give up on women and pursue men how much will power do they have?

 

I choose to get a boner when I see a hot chick naked.

I choose not to get a boner when I see dudes naked.

This proves it's a choice.

You do? I've never heard of that before. There have been times in public with a hot chick having some incidental contact that I chose not to have a boner, and it didn't work. LOL.
