If you are indicating Nene and Boozer as more physical, have you been watching the 2 play in the playoffs? Nene was a walking ghost and Boozer has bricked his shots.
Unless you plan on Scola riding on Hills shoulders during games this comparison is dumb. How about the rebounds Gasol or any taller PF plucks from over Scola?
Nene was injured, right?... Boozer might be bricking shots but who'd you think will be best at holding their position in the post vs PF/C's?
Amare is not great at holding his position. He couldn't defend an eyelash. Didn't he miss several games, because of a scratch on his eye?
Why can't we have Bosh and Scola? Am I missing something here because I am under the assumption that moving Scola would be extremely difficult to do since he is a RFA.
Apparently, fans believe Scola wants to be signed and traded to Toronto, if we sign Bosh. I have no idea where it came from. It's the first time I have heard of Scola wanting Toronto. Maybe they think Scola wants to be the #1 man on a bad team.
Why can we not keep both Scola and Bosh? If I'm Toronto, I have enough soft white guys on my team. Brooks would be the bigger chip, and if I'm the Rockets, it just makes more sense to start Lowry with that line-up because you don't need the instant offense Brooks brings anymore when Yao Bosh and Martin become your primary offensive options. On the other hand, Scola can be the big dog off the bench, rotating in with our more defensive-minded players like Battier and Hayes to mask his own defensive shortcomings inside. He would become our Manu. Not to mention that with Yao out, Scola could spend significant time playing at the same time as Bosh, with either player switching off at center. And Bosh/Scola >>>>> Scola/Hill, so there's the end to that.
If only give a combo of Shane/Scola plus 1st round picks or Hill/Jeffries plus 1st round picks and NO HEDO!!!
Just as white as Bargnani, Calderon, Turkoglu, and Belinelli. Toronto fans know what I mean. Scola would not have much appeal to them as they are already the most "international" team in the NBA. What they need now is somebody to play defense. I guess Aaron Brooks wouldn't make much sense then either would he...hah. Poor Toronto.
Yes there always next year and next year is the time Yeah i have been reading that very same line since the championship years.
The key is to keep Scola and acquire Bosh. We don't really know when Yao will return, and if he returns, when, if ever, he will return to STARting form. Bosh will have to log in a lot of games (minutes) at center and be on the floor at the same time with Scola. Bosh + Scola (possibly with Yao off the bench until he regains form once he returns) and Bosh + Yao with Scola off the bench, are both excellent complimentary combos. So it's not really CB4 vs Scola/Hill. It's more like, CB4 vs. Hayes/Andersen/Hill. I honestly do not think Hayes/Anderson/Hill strike fear with the rest of the league.
David lee , Rashard Lewis who ever happens to be starting for the warriors any given night. I Think all those people play worse D then Luis.
The Rockets had great defensive teams in Scola's first 2 years, so his defense isn't that bad, not great, but hardly a disaster. Unless the rockets can create a scola/hill hybrid Bosh is better. Hill has the length of Bosh, but not the skill. Scola has the skill of Bosh, but not the length. A 3 man rotation of Yao/Bosh/Scola would be just fine. And as for defense, Bosh has the ability to be a good defender, he needs a team that will make him commit.
Great, great post. And would love to see a DD response. His PER ranking is particularly impressive. Now I don't think Bosh is necessarily a top 5 or even a top 10 player in the league. After all, he wasn't an all star starter (though fan voted may skew that). But he is certainly a top 5 player at his position, an consistent and regular all-star caliber player, and, most importantly, a much better option that Scola or Hill, or even Scola/Hill (even though, as pointed out, that isn't the right comparison to make).
