From the early looks of it Scola will probably not be apart of the Bosh deal, so to answer your question OP: Bosh/Scola > Scola/Hill .... that simple (Starting Front courts) Yao/Bosh>>> any other front court in the NBA... --RB
I don't think there is anyway they retain Scola if they get Bosh. Scola has to probably be apart of that deal for financial reasons. And i'd rather give up Scola than Brooks or Martin.
Who says we're giving up Scola? Pointless thread.. Not surprising that DD is hating on another potential move by Morey. Flip-flop here we come!!
The reason I don't think scola will be apart of the deal, Is because Scola would have to agree to go to Toronto, and I really doubt he will... --RB
id rather stick with hill and scola, like ive said before bosh is a soft ego maniac who will get max money when is not a top 10 player in the league you can argue even top 20, he doesnt upgrade us that much he is not a great defender, he is better than scola and hill soley, but he alone is not better than both of them, id argue that hill is already as good defensively as bosh, and scola is almost as good a scorer for half the price
One A- player (Bosh) is always better than one B+ player (Scola) plus one B player (Hill). The only x-factor here is Hill's potential. I'd take a sure-fire star over a potential. I love Scola, but he's no star. And he is not young. I still hope Morey can pull off getting Bosh without giving up Scola. The only reservation I have with Bosh is his wish of being "the man" on a contender. This kind of attitude worries me since he is not a first tier franchise player.
Scola is part of the future.... Bosh and Scola together with yao. Bosh will play PF/C as yao gets his rests or injured games. I trust morey
I like your post but Landry is only a few months younger than Martin. You can consider him as young or as old as Martin. Just wanted to point out yet again how good Morey is. With that said, I can go either way. For sure, having Bosh on the court for 30 mins. is better than having Scola and Hill for 40. However this doesn't take into account how good Hill will become in the future-I think in a few years we're looking at a Brooks type of player (borderline star). Not only that, its highly likely we'll be giving up other pieces as well, the Knicks picks at the very least would probably be shipped out. Finally, we will be paying a player who seems to have a gimpy knee the max amount of money possible for the max number of years. I mean, when he first started here Tmac looked as healthy as Kobe, and look how he turned out. For the amount of money we would be paying Bosh we can pay Scola, Lowry, Hill and probably another role player like Battier, so there's that to consider as well. In the end though, both options make a lot of sense, so I guess I'll just trust what DM decides to do. With his l33t skillz, he can probably get Bosh for way less than we think is possible (Bosh for Jeffries, Battier and the Knicks pick/swap? )
I know Bosh was leading the league in FT attempts near the midpoint of the season, although I am too lazy to see where he finished at the end of year... That seems to be something Morey values and has put a premium on. Maybe Hill develops that ability at some point, but the Ice Cream Man is at his ceiling, and just isn't that type of player. it definitely would be a shame to see Scolandry completely disbanded...
We are not trading Scola AND Hill. I can guarantee that. Why? Because that means Bosh will be the only PF on the team...oh and Hayes. Because remember Jeffries will most likely be filler because of his contract. Morey mindset is much like that when he got Kmart. Trade Scola OR Landry, not both. Now the very same situation...Trade Hill or Scola...not both. And Bosh with Hill or Scola is much better than Scola and Hill. Preferably I'd keep Scola over Hill at this point because I think we could win a chip and Scola is 30 (or 29?) and IMO he's the type of guy who will play a little beyond 35 because of his work ethic and by that time we will have rings baby.
I don't want to break the bank to get Bosh. We have so many assets to work with....it would be a shame to use most of them to get one player. Bosh is a great player, but Scola is very good, and Hill has a high ceiling. I would rather have a playmaking point guard and/or a sharpshooter. Hopefully Hill will develop into our rebounding machine. Then we just need to get a center to share minutes with Yao. I won't complain if we are able to land Bosh....but I would rather get 2-3 good players in exchange for our trade bait, and try to keep Hill in the process.
Last year we were a wing and a backup center away from beating the Lakers. This time we don't have a $20 mil disadvantage and were most likely to acquire a decent backup center. With this current roster and addtional from the draft, we can still win it all assuming Yao stays healthy.
yeah i really never thought about that. bosh and scola playing together when yao sits and rests on the bench.
Chris Bosh wont be a rocket, I like Hill better anyways, and Scola is gonna be a monster next to yao next season. Bosh to houston is a wet dream, you would have to gut everyone from the bench, plus like Martin. Would be Scrubs and Broken down Yao and Bosh.
this, can't say I wouldn't do the trade until I knew what we could get him for. You can only have so much young talent via draft until you need to shore up other positions, no matter if only incremental upgrades. IMO, bosh is somewhat of an insurance policy incase Yao doesn't return to form, we will still have a really good team. Having said that I still think I'm against the trade....
How do all these people forget that Bosh is an All-Star for the last 5 seasons? and Scola is 4 years older than Bosh? Okay you could make an argument that Hill should be better than Bosh in X amount of years but even then, with our team, we should be able to win next season, not wait another 4 years.
