What doubters does Pete Carroll have and why should he care about proving them wrong? I agree that he would get paid a boatload but he's already making quite a bit of cash at USC. He's already tried the NFL and it didn't work out...after Spurrier, Davis, and most recently Saban's stint, I don't see him leaving the one of the most secure jobs in sports for what could only be a 2-4 year span. He has built a strong program that has contended for the better part of this decade, but better yet, he has built a program that will remain a powerhouse for years to come. He consistently has Top 3 recruiting classes and it doesn't look like that'll be changing anytime soon. Like I said, he's already tried the NFL before so I think it would take an unbelievable amount of money to make him leave USC. I honestly think he may have the best job in sports.
South Florida is nice, but coaching the Miami Dolphins isn't exactly wonderful. Players aren't running to play for their franchise. Sabans maybe had 2 or 3 more seasons with the Dolphins (assuming they didn't get much better), Pete Carroll may have the most secure job in college football.
