Think about it. Is it Really Really important this team makes the playoffs? Who really cares anymore? They have a better chance of missing it now than making it and if they do (miss it that is), they might even get lucky like 10 years ago and get the #1 pick. - Sure they will have the 14th seat at the lottery table but that didn't stop them last time with Yao. Didn't stop Chicago with Rose. They make that playoff with these stinkers on their recent memories and they will be swept in the 1st serious so who cares. So if you care for the Rockets future hope they get the lottery pick and hope for the best. I hear that Davis kid is pretty good... P.S. that NY pick is looking pretty bad just about now so the only lottery pick they will get is their own Just about now you can hear DM telling himself I should not have taken that flyer on TW. That was just about as bad a dud he has ever done and of course this is 20/20 after the fact stuff.
When you are this close and then to lose out on the playoffs is indeed choking. Things got tough and at first we responded but after that 4-0 road, admitted by for one Dragic himself, that they were taking it easy. They let it go their heads and the effort hasn't been there. The last 3 games have been blowouts for the most part if it weren't for a little run in the 4th and Camby's play. There's absolutely no indication of this team turning it around like the 93-94 champions because they had balls, toughness, a mean streak, a crazy guy in Maxwell, emotion and let's not forget a good coach. I'm not comparing them to that team, they do not even deserve to be mentioned among those players. Also, comparing them to Adelman's Rockets is also ridiculous. This is a new team with a lack of urgency I haven't seen in a while, though under Adelman we had our share of bad games but nothing like this. First the Jazz game was a must win, then the Phoenix game, then last night's game, now this game. We are 0-3 now and you would think somebody would have the balls to step up. Say it like it is which is they should be embarrassed by their effort, lack of urgency, lack of physicality, lack of playing together, lack of motivation and time is now to turn it around!
You mean, Les' plan of not tanking so attendance wouldn't crater while rebuilding....it isn't the best route to go?!?!?!?! Sad. Right when the pressure ratcheted up, this team folds. Doesn't help when Camby is playing his butt off and has only one arm. I don't know if he'll play tonight, but he had to leave the game early last night, and no one really stepped up to replace his effort.
Nobody to step up = win 4 glorious games + lose 4 pure ugliness (no hope for tonight) = NO CONSISTANCY = lotto = I'll see you next year. splish splash splish splish splash (sounds of me washing my hands of any hope this season) (gawd I hope somebody from the team is reading our disgust...maybe all you people trying to keep it real were right at the beginning of the season...maybe this team just ain't worth it...because they're playing like they aint' worth it........)
If the Rockets lose tonight, they simply do not DESERVE to make the playoffs. After the 4 game road trip, I was thinking we definitely had what it takes to do a first round upset. Now, if they lose tonight I`ll probably be disinterested in them for the remainder of the year. As someone before me stated, see you guys next season.
Actually, there was a historical context. Houston had been choking for more than a decade, from the UH Cougars to the Twin Towers Rockets to the Oilers' epic choke job against Buffalo to the Rockets' playoffs series against the Suns. But you are right, Clutch City came out from the heap of Choke City. You'd have to experience the decades of choke-ness in order to appreciate the sweetness of Clutch City. So be patient, young Luke. The Force will be with you...
Yup. Don't forget Elway and Montana beating up the Oilers. http://www.nba.com/rockets/history/lookingback_94finals.html
