Precisely. At least yao gave all his time whereas certain player just stood on the court and dreamt about the Nets will give him multi millions contract.

Yao Ming is 60-70% fit at the moment. This is him, removing his rust. Instead of getting back into the swing of things early into the NBA season he is removing those cobwebs and getting his fitness up in Olympic competition.

Let's also remember that Basketball is about having a good team around a superstar. Yao ahs a bunch of guards who can only occasionally hit three pointers.
He is also playing with a coach who ahs him running around the top of teh key setting screens.

Yao is fine. He is just rusty. Probably takes him a few weeks/months before he gets his shooting touch back. As for falling down, they were pushing him a lot. They would probably foul out if this was a NBA game.

i watched the whole game. so you are suggesting he sit down and have Yi playing? he is not 100%, but doesn't mean he isn't healthy enough to play. as an athelete, the worst thing is not able to participate when you can. the whole team played their hearts out for 3 and 3/4 quarters. if they beat Germany, and continue to play hard, they have a shot.

i only watched the game coz yao. im not a fan of China specifically. but was supporting China and as a supported i wanted Yao on the bench. he couldnt get it done coz he was hurting. i hope u agree with that. and that being said they dont need two 7 footers. u can run with wang zhi zhi who had the best game for china in place of yao and keep yi on the bench.

richard jefferson must think his value is worthless after being traded for yi. yi has alot to prove!

the problem is, Yi is the only person to match up with Pau. obviously he isn't going to match up that well. He and Yao just don't mesh well on the floor at the same time. And they didn't really teach him anything last year in Milwaukee. All he did was catch and shoot and dunked.

Scola will get an open lay up, but fade away and miss instead of going strong. Playing soft is what the Rockets specialize in.

In analyzing the difference in percentages, I think it’s a significant advantage to have a big that is in the post as opposed to a big content out in the perimeter. Post players like Yao scare the bageebas out of opposing coaches. As a decoy alone, he opens things up for his teammates. None of the Lakers bigs are known to be post defenders like Kwame Brown who guards Yao pretty tight and Yao has no problem against him.

Will Yao be a clear advantage against the Lakers? Hard to say, it will depend on Phil Jackson's defensive strategy. Yao in the past has put up big numbers against Phil Jackson. But I do know Paul Gasol will not be a deterrent as the shooting percentages prove. The only thing that can stop Yao is Yao, he must stay healthy and out of foul trouble.

He sure isn't looking soft against Australia. Scola takes it hard to the basket he hardly ever fades away the problem with Scola is he takes it the basket hard in lay up fashion not dunk fashion. Bringing it layup fashion with a hand in his face causing him to miss but 90% of the time he is going to the basket dipping that shoulder.

Anyone who thinks scola is soft is ... well not smart. wat him how he's dominating bogut and the auusies. he's got points and some niffty low post work.

if u can't have ball moved to the front court
and u let their guards face yao 1 on 1 on the paint
obvious it's not the center we should blame

Scola is playing beautifully against the Aussies.

Newley is also doing everything he can to impress Scola so he puts in a good word for him ;)

I got up at 3:30am this morning to watch China vs Spain, coming to this game, everyone knew china was going to lose, since Spain is ranked no.2 right behind USA. But surprisingly China did play very well for the 3 quarters, and still lead by 14 points going into the 4th. And then collapsed like an earthquake in 4th quarter, I have to admit watching the way they lost has made me sick... As far as Yao Ming, we just can't compare him (at international level) vs him (at nba level).. cuz this Chinese team has no guards/swingman at all, so Yao had to step up 25 feet from the basket to make a pick, also he couldn't get close to the basket at all like he did when he was playing in the NBA.

I dont mind China lost to Spain and USA, and the way they lost these games in the 2nd half has been unbelievable.

Scola has definetly improved he's finishing around the bucket. he's not missing those gimmies anymore. this is gonna be a nasty rockets team with luis , Artest, McGrady, Battier, Yao, Alston and landry. we wont be seeing luis blow those layups anymore.
