I really wanted Spain to be crushed by China. Their entire team, just their swagger, ugly bearded faces, and annoying 12 year old point guards piss me off. Oh well, hopefully they'll play the USA so I can watch Pau Gasol crap his pants to the referees again.

Exciting yes. But its not pro basketball. The passion is there. But the physicality is neutered.

Before this game, I thought Spain would give the USA problems. I've completely changed my mind. Spain's guards are so skinny that USA's guards will have their way with them.

As much as I love Yao I agree completely. Yao played very poorly at both ends. I didn't think I'd ever say this, but if Yao plays an average game we win.

If this is the way he will come back to the NBA... he will be a scrub. He'd better be still recovering from injury.

I feel the same way. Spain is suppose to be a powerhouse, a real "team", yet they struggled to beat a weak China team with their two best players playing like crap. I wouldn't be surprised if USA blew them out.

yeah so far Yi has just been a moderate failure. Not 20 years old, more like 24. Looks very lost in games and afraid...all he can do is jump.

    Same old Yao. Turnover prone.

He was outplayed by both Gasol brothers.

This is one of the main reasons why I don't buy the Rockets are better than Lakers argument outright. Pau Gasol gives Yao Ming fits. He uses his quickness to beat Yao on offense while on the defensive end he does a very good job of covering Yao one on one. Rockets don't have a clear advantage against the Lakers at center position.

lol, one play he was like a foot from the half court line and picked up his dribble. he looks like he lost all confidence. probably left it back at one of the many karaoke bars in China.

yes they do. Artest will cover Gasol. Yao has proved that if you do not double him he will go off.

Yao has traditionally struggled against Gasol. I was waiting for him to go off against Okur last playoffs.....on single coverage too.

Before Gasol trade, Rockets had clear advantage against Lakers at C position and it almost always showed. Now PJ will just let Gasol cover Yao single coverage and he can live with results. Gasol is just a bad matchup for Yao.

Rockets will have to win by Artest and defense. Depending on Yao to carry them will not cut it. Luckily for Rockets, Artest is a terrible matchup for the Lakers.

You maybe right, but Shaq was playing with a group of All-Stars and playing against subpar competition. Yao plays with scrubs (includes Yi) and plays against very good competition (competition that COULD beat the US)

I don't think you can blame the game on Yao...he gave it his all even if he's not in the best shape to do so. If Rafer was playing, China would of won this game.

I know for sure yi is not known for defense...but if he can't defend ****, and is too scared and lost on offense...wtf is he good for  ?!
