Honestly, they are fre to say what they want...I use to kinda like their music but not so much know...Part of it is pushing their politicial views, but the other, its not very good country music...country music in general has been pretty bad that last couple of years...
I would take: Shania Twain Carrie Underwood Maranda Lambert Sarah Evans or Jennifer Nettles Over the Dixie chicks any day of the week. DD
the only reason anyone is talking about them is b/c of the backlash. the story isnt that they are releasing a new record. the story is that they gave an opinion which got a bunch of neocons panties in a wad. you neocons created the story in the first place. and for the record, i am a REAL texan (unlike dress-up cowboy bush) and i am ashamed of our president.
Then you've never seen them live. They're like the country version of Heart. ie. They can actually play. Good Lord, I'm defending the Dixie Chicks. This is definitely a sign of Apocalypse. We're all gonna die.
Musical ability and talent? WTF? I just want my rock stars to be hawt! (see Shakira thread in hangout)
the Dixie Chicks make other people's assumptions correct about americans. they are fat angry rednecks who only care about themselves. shania, she represents everything thats right about women!
People have a right not to listen or buy Dixie Chicks CD's, even burn them. But when the stations owners are actually one station owner (Clear Channel) - a company that is very much aligned with the Bush/Republican party....then what this ban really consistitutes is censorship. It's not the individual station owners making a decision. It's the corporate office, a corporate office that has very close ties to the Republican party.
thats an excuse. NWA had ZERO RADIO PLAY, they became the pioneers of Gangsta Rap and launched the careers of Dr Dre, Ice Cube and Easy E. Republicans or Democrat radio stations would never play NWA.
They didn't become mainstream until they got radio play. Hate to break it to you, but nearly all mainstream music becomes big from radio play. It may change in the future now with iTunes and all that, but for now, it still holds true. I wrote my marketing thesis on radio play and CD sales.
I'd go see them in concert if they performed in their birthday suits. I always did think the chunky one was cute. As I see it, they won't starve if their music is kept of the radio. Regular radio sucks thanks to Clear Channel.
Let's look at the facts, other then they sing country music, they hate Bush and like to get naked together.
