How is coming back to Oregon his last resort? He turned down Philly and Cleveland for them.

He is probably a god in Oregon and is making millions, life is good for him either way.

Wise choice. Not only does he no longer have to coach the Browns, but now he won't have to live in Cleveland.

Because I don't think he loves the idea of coming back. Clearly he is looking to move on. I just don't think he got an offer he wanted. He may very well have wanted player personnel control also given that his system requires a certain type of player and those teams didn't want to give it to him.

It's just hard to believe that that bridge isn't at least somewhat burned at this point.

Chip is probably waiting for the panthers or cowboys jobs to open.

This is one of the Oregonian writers' opinion because of where he's from.

He's back in, right? Or maybe, not. Nobody really knew what Kelly might do -- including his closest assistants -- not even when NFL teams started backing away, with the Browns openly questioning Kelly's "commitment to the NFL," did anyone believe for certain he was really coming back. By the way, I think the Browns are mistaken on the commitment issue. I think Kelly is totally committed to jumping to the NFL one day. Otherwise, I doubt he'd waste the better part of a weekend doing his diligence, dragging his recruits and friends through the agony of losing their head coach. But I think the job Kelly absolutely wants is the one currently held by 60-year-old three-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick, who is as close to Kelly in his monomaniacal drive and ultimate hands-on style as there is in sports.

Kelly visited with the Patriots this offseason. It's been well-documented. The Patriots now use some of Kelly's no-huddle terminology and basic concepts. And I wondered as the Browns and Eagles invested their time trying to convince Kelly they had dream jobs for him, if they could ever measure up to what Kelly learned from spending time with Belichick, who has unique control of Robert Kraft's franchise in the same way Kelly does at Oregon.

Man what Vick could've done with Kelly's offense. Or do the Eagles give second thought about cutting Vick?

He gets paid a lot man, can you cut him then resign him for less? I imagine so, he'd be much cheaper if they just do that. Flynn would fit well in that scheme (if he keeps it).

Wouldn't that be the same as negotiating a pay cut, like Kevin Walter going from 3.5M to 2M last season. If I had to guess, there's still a few teams around the league fooling themselves at the QB position, even if KC takes Smith. Maybe Vick thinks someone's willing to take a chance on him, when his FA competition is Quinn, Daniel, Campbell.
