From what we've seen with how China treats humanity in their own country, are we really shocked if it turns out China created and then unleashed this on the world intentionally?

Again that makes no sense. It's not like the PRC has no access to the rest of the World. Releasing it in Wuhan while a major city is still relatively in the Middle of the country and gets far less foreign travelers than Beijing or Shanghai. If they really wanted to infect the rest of world and just didn't care about their own people they could've just infected a tour group going to the US or the UK. For that matter they could've just infected HK which is far more international than any of the cities in the PRC. Or why not just infect an American tour group and make sure the incubation time is slow enough that it doesn't really get full blown until they get back to the US.

Also for reasons stated previously COVID-19 is a terrible bio-weapon. There are many more diseases that could do more damage such as SARS-1.

Again the CCP is authoritarian but they aren't stupid.

 

I am really losing my confidence in humanity..... I thought it would be something "evil" or depraved that would destroy us....... now I really just believe it will be stupidity......... 1/3 of the people on earth are so stupid that they are dangerous because they will just fall in line and believe anything.

Whatever the origin is, we see different countries handled it with varying levels of competence.

Saddly I think you're on to something.

I was telling someone recently about the Pizzagate incident where an armed follower of conspiracies (not sure if it was specifically Q but the same conspiracy) stormed a DC pizza place and forced the employees at gun point to open the basement. He had been reading how Hillary Clinton and other Dems where holding child sex slaves in the basement of this pizza place. Of course the basement held nothing but pizza sauce and other ingredients and no children. While this story ended up more embarrassing than tragic it very well could've ended up being a tragedy.

Now multiple that one person to hundreds of thousands or even millions of people out there consuming this stuff and convincing themselves this is real and they have to do something about it. Add that to that they are placing their hopes upon a politician who is very likely to lose in an election he continues to tell people he can only lose if it's fixed and we have a very big potential for danger in the next few months..

 

Guys, let's just buy the Chinese official story and not question the insanely small chances that the virus came from the deadly virus research lab, one of few in the world, which happened to be nearby. Nope, that is a conspiracy theory. Ya'll are crazy if you think it's even possible and question the arbiters of truth: CHINA, which didn't lie about the virus while restricting its domestic travel and allowing international outward travel, CNN, which never lies ever, and that Dr. Fauci guy who totally didn't lie about masks. Oh and the WHO, which never released incorrect info on the virus and isn't run by a communist from Ethiopia, a country which isn't totally tied to Chinese purse strings.

 

Depending on who crosses the Rubicon first, you might have to ask yourself in the future whether that 1/3 realized what you wrote sooner and opted to dive head first into to Authoritarianism to save themselves from themselves.

I'm not saying it's the right answer, but it's probably the easiest Do-Nothing Solution and it's ostensibly self-serving, if only in the short term.
