Chinese Virologist post report claiming virus made in Wuhan lab

The media did the exact thing with the theory "Zeus, ever the prankster god, started the pandemic right outside of the Wuhan Institute of Virology to see what kind of mischief would ensue".

 

"The Media" is completely incapable of having a scientific discussion. Anyone getting their scientific opinions from the 24 hour news Talking Heads deserves to be uninformed and clueless.

Clearly the Talking Heads are making no distinction between the spectrum of the Wuhan Institute of Virology studying coronaviruses and developing a bio-weapon.

 

I finally figured out that they don't even want fans. What a pathetic organization. But yeah, I will probably watch the train-wreck on Sundays.

 

The government spends money creating viruses in a lab. One of those viruses causes the worst pandemic in 100 years and millions of people die. The government then spends 10x more money doing the same research that caused the pandemic in the first place. How is that not a problem?

It's the equivalent of having credible evidence in 2003 that bin Laden was on the CIA payroll and the media convincing the public that it's a conspiracy. So this whole war on terror was caused by a bumbling US government argency, no big deal, it won't effect anything.

 

All of that is true but keep in mind that Trumps initial Covid team was mostly the ones supplying the media with the direct talking points which other than Trump later on when he saw an Avenue to inject racial scapegoating. Everyone on his team, Redfield, Burks, Fauci, etc. were in line and in line with the WHO who were only making assumptions based on the genetic sequencing and the little bit of info they knew about who they thought patient zero was at the time.

Also US intelligence and the brave Wuhan doctor who later died were all saying the same thing and pointing towards the wet market.

So while the media being profit driven is an issue for our democracy, in this case it’s just not fair to really make this about any one particular entity. A lot of people screwed up... mainly China who puts the world at risk when they do not allow for thorough investigations. Even if it was the wet market, that’s still not a great thing for China and just speaks to their need to regulate the food safety measures.

Also as someone who had Covid I’ll contest to the virus feeling much different that any virus I’ve had. I know that genetically it does originate from bats but it was very unnatural and almost chemically feeling given how it wreaks havoc on your sense of taste and smell. It’s amazing to me that the same people who are anti vaccine and anti mask are the same people who believe this was a bio weapon. Like why would you believe a bio weapon is not a threat worth protecting yourself against ... makes no sense.

Nope. I don't watch Fox and try to avoid their stupid takes. What does this have to do with your opinion that it doesn't matter how the virus started? Clearly if a lab leak caused a pandemic it should effect policy going forward. Currently there is a billion dollars earmarked for the same kind of research that probably caused the pandemic in the first place.
