    Ottomaton,

When a nuclear bomb detonate, it generates X-ray, Light, Gamma-ray, as well as alpha and beta particles.

Light, X-ray, and Gamma-ray are part of Electromagnetic spectrum. Alpha and Beta particles kills IC circuits through EM forces.

When a bomb detonate in out space, it kills by heat in its near vicinity. Outside of that, it kills by destroying electronics by EM radiations.

Now, we are talking about regional affect.

You seems to be talking about a continental affect by detonating a bomb high up in the atmosphere.

But that will be of little reverence here for the following reasons: 1. no atmosphere in outer space. 2. we are talking about a targeted strike (direct kinetic kill is the most precise, a nuclear bomb kills several satellites in the area). In war between superpowers, it will be awfully nice to kill the other guy without killing your own.

Oh no, I'm on the village idiot's ignore list. Whatever will I do?

On the contrary, that report does not contradict what I've said at all. Here is another report on the same issue:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070122/ap_on_..._st_pe/us_china

It appears that China only disclosed the information AFTER they were SPECIFICALLY ASKED by the likes of Christopher Hill and his counterparts in other countries.

Had they not been asked, the Chinese government would likely not have acknowledged this test at all.

Furthermore, until this day, the Chinese government still issued to public statement on the existence of the test or lack thereof. Everything you heard in the media came from "leaks" in foreign sources.

Make that China had not disclosed anything until it was leaked by the western media.

Good to see that you learned nothing from your previous "hiatus." Keep it up, and you might find yourself enjoying another. Adios.

haha - oh man, i laughed so hard i was almost in tears. He's on my ignore list as well, but I knew someone was going to jump on that China wants to be a man stuff. It's TOO easy. Haha!

Seriously though. If China wants to get into a space arms race with the U.S. well I'm sure the U.S. will comply. It's just not smart. The next step of course is for the U.S. to develop satelittes that can defend themselves against missile attacks. Of course, why don't we skip it all and just have a shuttle up there with a nuclear payload that way if China ever did launch an attack against a satellite it could respond by firing a nuke at Beijing before it get destroyed. And all the other satelittes could launch their nukes. Afterall, it's just a deterence ya know.

And it's also so easy to prove that you are r****ded. What? Say something stupid and then just go 'hahaha' when someone points out that you are stupid? You actually take pride in being exposed to be stupid. Are you trying to prove yourself shameless or what? Oh man, I laughed so hard and I was almost in tear.

Actually that's ridiculously funny. If it was intentional - the man deserves props. If it wasn't, then it's even funnier.

I like how you casually talk about nuking another country. You talk like "the loaded shuttle" is the end all be all mean to solve any single problem in the world. In order to prove that you are not really that stupid, why don't you device a plan to use the "loaded shuttle" as the mean to solve the problem in North Korea and Iran now? And even a 10 years old these days know the horrible side-effects of launching a nuke, like the lasting and damaging enironmental effects, the possibility of nuclear retailiations, etc. I guess only a fool with a tiny brain like you still can't see it.

How dare you compare the peace loving India to evil communist regime? The peace loving India is a democratic beacon who has their people grouped perfectly with harmony into clear classes. As for nuclear technology, they are only used for civil benefits. Those nuclear weapons? They are there to protect that glorious democracy against Chinese supression and intolerance.

    To sum up.

China tested a device that shoots down satellites.

    America is bad.

If you disagree you are a racist.

The racist here is the one who has to use racist slurs on the internet at the comfort of hiding behind his computer in order to give a boast to his manhood. I think it works as great as viagra for you, right?

People are making waaaaay to much of this missile test.

The trade deficit helps China and they in turn, buy US T-bills to keep interests rates low. The economic ties between the 2 countries is far stronger than any of the warhawks would like to believe. China is a peaceful nation that is hosting the Olympics in 2008 - this is not North Korea we're talking about.

Also - the US really has no moral authority to condemn this missile test. Why can't a country that was virtually colonized by Western powers 150 years ago defend itself?

Remember "No dogs or Chinese allowed." ?

What's most funny in this thread is that NewYorker has again inadvertently replied to two people whom he has lied before that he has put them on his ignore list. NewYorker has lied so many times that he is really having problem to keep track which posters are on his imaginary ignore list now. The situation is getting comical. LOL
