What is wrong with securing their border, or keeping their territory? What Natural resources? Tibet is not rich of mineral resource, or does it have oil. If one follows your logic, we are gonna have to say ending the slavery was a cheap justification for the Lincoln adminitration to prevent the south from leaving the union. There is a huge difference between genocide and cultural assimilation.
In name only. The Dalai Lama was 15 when the PRC invaded and had not ascended to political office even though he was recognized as a reincarnation. When the PRC moved in there was an emergency ascension but by then the PRC already controlled things so he never wielded any real power. Anyway as I said earlier the Dalai Lama himself has said that the old ways were wrong and that he would never want Tibet to return to that situation and that he himself doesn't want to be a political leader.
Actually ending slavery wasn't Lincoln's main reason for preventing the South from leaving the Union. Preserving the Union was. Lincoln himself said that if he could keep the Union together without freeing any slaves he would do it.
After you fix your lack of courage to admit hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are killed by the USA army. Facts? The fact is your army dropped huge of amount of explosives in the Iraqi towns and cities for months, killed Iraqis at the soldier's discretion, toyed with and tortured Iraqis prisoners, froced down your cultural values, let robbers looted the Iraqi museums, cut off Iraqis medicine supply for years, generated millions of refugees, raped Iraqi girls and killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis of which the number is still growing. How can you defend this, how can you face the Iraqis victims whose blood is on your hand, how can you deny their evaporation? Are you really a man who cares about humanity or just a self appointed coward on moral high horse? More like the latter.
yeah, but you've been realitively well behaved from what I've seen people quoting you so I decided to take you off ignore. by the way, i lied to keep my privacy, not to win a debate - remember that... anyway, MFW is now on my ignore list after that rambling personal attacking post. It always amazes me how someone can personally attack someone and then expect a response? Don't people get that there are actually some people who have a level of self-respect - and won't tolerate that stuff? Oh well.
I don't know, I've hiked up mountains in good conditions - and it's exhausting - you can increase your pace - but for how long? A few minutes? You're exposed and there's nothing one can do. If this is typical, and these guys know that getting shot is a possibility - then it makes sense that they are beaten down, know the risks, and just march on. But I don't see incongruities in the video. I mean, to me - personally - it's really clear what happened. And for the video to fake that along with the eye-witness accounts - is hard to believe. Why would romania television wish to do that????
I said the "refugees" could just raise their hands after hearing gun shots to surrender, and this is your reply? Well, if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all. The "refugees" should've raised their arms or wave white flags to signal surrender after a man in front of them got shot. But in the video they acted like nothing happened and kept walking. This is just one of the serious flaws in this clearly staged video. Admit it, you are pretty gullible and lack the drive and ability of critical thinking by believing in this clearly staged video. Of course, you can come up with lame duck replies like the one above, but I know deep down you just want to save face.
Actually, they haven't. They have made excuses saying that China liberated Tibet and that these soldiers were acting correctly. That's not an admission of anything wrong. And yes...it is Genocide - if what America did to the Native Americans is Genocide - then so is this. If you want to be consisten - that's fine, but be consistent. Don't call us genocidal and excuse yourself. Stick with a consistent application...ok?
If some one was shooting at me as I was trying to escape the country - I wouldn't put my hands up - especially if they were miles away. I mean, why would you wave a white flag when you are fleeing oppression? So you can be put in jail and tortured? Forget that....I'd keep going in the hope of freedom. But then again, I've only known freedom - so I can't live without it. Maybe being Chinese, you guys don't think of freedom, so you can't understand why some people would be willing to die for it. I would rather die in the pursuit of freedom than llive a life of oppression. Thank god I live in America!
For your mental health, go call a doctor and arrange a meeting. Repeating the same thing over and over uncontrollably is a sure sign of OCD, the Obcessive and Compulsive Disorder. And using repetition to convince oneself of something is a sure sign of schizophrenia. Do you have past history of mental disorder?
You are getting ridiculous, again. There is no chance of escape under that situation. Can't run in deep snow, totally exposed under gunfire in a wide slope, nowhere to take cover, any sane men under that situation will raise hands and surrender, and seek freedom when have chance. You now say you can't live without freedom so despite becoming live targets under gun fire you won't surrender will keep marching on. You know what, you are either insane or lying, and I think you are lying. Here You said in this thread that "it's better to be a slave than die in my opinion", now you are saying "I can't live without freedom ", "I would die for it". Blah blah blah. Here is what you posted in the same thread, you arrogant liar: "Better to be a "slave" then to be dead in my opinion, but i guess the Chinese gov't on what liberation means is liberation from having to life out the rest of your life. So I guess you're saying that China can commit genocide for another 50-100 years. Anyway, keep trying to compare yourself to other countries as a means to defend the wiping out of Tibet. Congratulations. You've just said it's ok to kill people for no reason except for political purposes." No need to waste time with this self righteous liar.
There isn't a huge difference between genocide and cultural assimillation when torture, killing and supression of people's freedoms are concerned. To your other points: What is wrong with securing the border? nothing if they had done it in a peaceful way instead of persecuting a peaceful people. What natural resources?!? Are you kidding me? Just a few as you seem to not know much about the region: Timber. One of the main reasons the Chinese are there. And they aren't replanting and the land doesn't lend itself to reforestation so it is simply a rape of the land. that's a fact. There are more than 70 known minerals in Tibet. "Total reserves of 26 of these have been determined, with 12 ranking among the top five in China at a provincial level". http://www.china.org.cn/english/tibet-english/zirzy.htm The Lithium deposits are among the highest in the world. The chormite deposits are the highest in China. Prospective copper reserves rank second in China. Large reserves of Boron (ranks third in China's proven reserves). Magnetite ranks third in China's proven reserves. Barite and arsenic occupy third and fourth place respectively in China. Reserves of gypsum and pottery clay rank second and fifth in China. Muscovite takes fourth place in China's reserves. Peat's proven reserves reach more than 8 million tons, ranking fourth in China. Tibet is indespensible for China in regards to hydro, geothermal, solar and wind energy. Hydroelectric resources produce 200 million kw annually. 30 percent of China's total. Tibet leads China in geothermal energy. 100 sites have good geothermal energy reserves, ranking first in China. But say it was invaded and its people persecuted in order to end slavery. It sounds so noble. *EDIT* according to the China Embassy there are more than 90 known minerals in Tibet and other significant mineral deposits (other than those I listed) include salt, natural soda, mirabilite, sulphur, phosphorus, potassium, diatomaceous earth, iceland spar, corundum, rock quartz and agate. http://www.chinaembassy.org.np/tibet/natural_resources/natural_resources.htm Next, Brock
Brockstapper: All are dandy and well when your source make "Tibet" to include other parts of China such as the Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan provinces. It's another example of geographical fabrication by enlarging Tibet to include the other parts of China, so that the movement of Han Chinese immigrants into other nearby provinces such as Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan is counted as "OMG the Han Chinese immigrants are rushing in Tibet. Genocide! Planned assimilation!"
As we know, there is WMDs that can blow up the world thirty times in Iraq, and there is organ harvesting in China for free transplants. I didn't know China had such great medical welfare. Shame on me. Where is my free heart, dammit. Some of these anti-China lies are pretty laughable, and the naiveness(sp?) of some American believers are equally laughable. I would be very glad if I was a member of these sources that make such lies, because all I need is to do to get trust from some over-confident-in-CIA-Free Election-Free Media-as-to-believe-in-WMDs-in-Iraq Americans' is to mention "an anonymous source said, oh no, whispered in my ear, there's organ harvesting in China." Come one, do some of your guys believing in organ harvesting have a brain? China is doing a great service for you if there was organ harvesting, because you clearly need one.
. So you deny that Tibet has resources that China wants? call if fabrication. If it is, it's fabricated by the Chinese government where I looked up those statistics. It is obvious you want to live in denial of your government's actions in Tibet. and for the record, Tibet does have oil. see here Regards, Brock http://www.moles.org/ProjectUnderground/reports/tibet2000.html http://library.thinkquest.org/25772/site/english/naturalresources.html http://english.people.com.cn/200306/14/eng20030614_118219.shtml http://www.57tibet.com/tibettravel/Html/200632817256-1.html http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=34733 http://www.ilhr.org/ilhr/regional/tibet/development.htm http://today.reuters.com/news/artic...ralResources&storyID=nHKG309615&from=business http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/english/200109/13/eng20010913_80160.html http://en.tibet.cn/newfeature/figure2004/plateau/t20060616_123866.htm http://www.unescap.org/esid/psis/population/database/chinadata/tibet.htm http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/sandt/tibetbib.htm http://www.kitcocasey.com/cpr.php?id=7 http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/08/01/business/river.php http://www.thingsasian.com/goto_article/article.3699.html http://www.asiawaterwire.net/node/433 http://www.tibet.ca/en/wtnarchive/1999/7/22_2.html http://www.tibet.ca/en/wtnarchive/2006/5/30_2.html http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/natres/oil/China/2001/0905disc.htm http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/english/200108/21/eng20010821_77897.html http://www.edu.cn/200108_1528/20060323/t20060323_14608.shtml http://www.chinaembassy.org.ro/rom/kjwh/t169339.htm What you call fabrication I call facts.
