The chinese national team will have no other thing to do but show their passion in the olympics. The basketball team is as "good" as the football team. :D

Dreamrockets, it's so funny that you translated an editorial from Xinhua Word-by-word.

Let me put it this way -
    1. Beijing gonna host Olympics, and it's a big deal for most of Chinese people. Well, expecially for the government.

    2. Yao Ming is the No.1 (or 2) sports celebrity in China at the moment. And Basket Ball is perhaps the No.1 sports game in China right now given the poor National football team not only fell the fans but infuriated them lately (ah, lately means for the last 10 years). And yeah I am one of them.

    3. So Mr president came over to pump the ballers up, and spoke some cliche..(the impact, if there's any, was spiritual. What's being said was not relevant at all in my honest opinion).

    4. The former NBA player Wang Zhizhi and the NBA Rookie Yi Jianlian are BB stars in China. That's nothing to sniff at. Some clueless guys here please just stop being stupid by reckoning that Chinese people would even think they are stars in the NBA..Only Yao is a star in NBA.

Wow, I'm speechless. Some of you can really make something out of nothing to make our Chinese look bad. Is that a tradition or a fashion nowadays?

Chinese President - "Don't make us genetically engineer a THIRD Yao Ming clone to take your spot."

Hu: Yao version 3.0 has finished final stage of test.
Yao: I am aware of that. Give me one last chance.

Not necessarily. I suspect Yao will have the chance to meet Bush when Bush is in Beijing next month. It was said Bush is interested in the Olympic basketball game between China and US.

The world's greatest president is HU,who, at least doesn't have an apetite for wars ,unlike some country's president who is simply a paradia. All the wars that had broken out in recent years should be attributed to one guy whose name is George W Bush, the letter W means wrong.THe only good news is that the warlust is retiring soon.I would rather see buster being the president of the states.

My test seems having nothing to do with the topic ,does it? :D
Congratulations to Bush,as he is going to retire from the world's worst job .

I want the buster to be the president of the country rather than a single state.

i donno abt that, from the couple rox game i watched that brooks played, he doesn't look that great, or at least not that much better than Sun Yue or Chen Jianghua, given Chen is less experienced and maybe even less consistent

I am Chinese and I agree with the above translation. The president wished the national team would "show a lot of heart and passion" in the Olympic games.
