I'm looking for foods and beverages that have increased or decreased in demand in China between 2000-2010. I'm writing an economics paper and need some products with those specifications. I've found some info on beef and ice cream but am looking for some other products, maybe even more specific like a brand name of a food or drink. Any suggestions.
This is conjecture, but I would imagine coca-cola (the universal symbol of capitalism) some of the fast-food brands, maybe traditionally western goods like cheese.
In that last decade, there are no shortage of domestic and international brands that exploded in China (as with pretty much any good). Are you specifically looking for certain types? Otherwise, I imagine a quick google would work.
This reminded me of the KFC boom that happened over the last decade as well. I may look into that. Thanks!
Google hasn't turned up much. I've looked at the dairy sector mainly but now am looking elsewhere. Not anything specific besides foods and drinks that have experienced increases or decreases in demand over the last decade.
I wouldn't put much stock into dairy since 70% of Asians are lactose intolerant. And even more to a certain degree.
Fast Food. Just look at the growth of KFC and McDonalds in China. They open a new restaurant every day there. Just google seach Yum! brands China.
When we were at the World's fair that was in Shanghai a couple of years ago. Coca-Cola was all over the place.
i came across a story recently that mentioned Oreos (among others)...their market share increased significantly after catering to the Chinese palate by using different filler flavour, some were pretty out there from my pov.
