There is a great deal of scientific evidence to the contrary, as it applies to drug-addicted individuals.
The point is nobody made light of the Bush issue. They were merely bringing a published article to light. Perhaps you were afraid what might be said, but nothing innappropriate had been put down as of yet. To safeguard something like that from BBS scrutiny and then to jump all over this seems a tad hypocritical. That's all.
OK, so it seems that dark humor isn't for everybody...well, can we at least keep this thread for sick freaks like me who DO think this is funny, and start political debates in another thread?
BK: I said before that I didn't agree with your shutting of the other thread but I backed you up. I didn't tell you to re-open it and start your own "Making Fun of People with Drug Problems is Wrong" thread. I actually defended you if you recall. I guess I'm not afforded the same. I'm not going anywhere because you say so. I'm going to continue standing up for what I believe is inappropriate whehter you or anyone else likes it or not. However, I'm also not going to close the thread. People have a right to say what they want and agree or disagree with me if they like. I won't stop you from "chortling over his stupidity." Feel free. But, don't expect me to not say anything about it.
ROFL! I'm sorry, but that pic deserves an AUTOMATIC expulsion from the BBS! Either that or a nice, firm spanking.
I agree with you on this point, but the choice to recover and stick faithfully to a recovery program is just that...a choice, one she still has not made.
What BBS were you reading? Freudian slip? Would somebody please pat Jeff on the back so he'll feel vindicated and drop this...? This has got to be the least important thing I've ever had to argue on this BBS. Sheesh.
This applies to already addicted individuals, not those who choose to take it for the first time and all of them took it for the first time at least once.
Right, but the article and responses referred to Noelle Bush's repeated failures to stay sober, not her initial choice to take drugs. I'm still mad I'm being compared to a gay sailor.
Addicts can be pre-disposed to drug use before the first time, which is what Brian is saying, and I agree.
Right. I don't think that there was anything wrong with the content of the thread but I think that title of the thread was probably deemed offensive.
Yes, but what was innappropriate about it? Also, on another note, can you discuss an issue without belittling those that have a dissenting opinion from your own?
Which leads us back to the topic. This guy chose to do something dangerous and life threatening, just a Noelle chose not to embrace a recovery program. I think the situations are similar. That being said, I personally do not think either should be made fun of, but others can do as they please. You took that right away when you closed that thread.
That has been discussed to death. I'm not interested in rehashing it for your benefit. I'm just here for the Chinese BMXer jokes, which are unfortunately getting crowded out by lectures on topics that should or shouldn't be closed and the quid pro quo nature of being on the Clutch Crew. It depends how stupid their disagreement is. Which leads us back to why she did that, which as I said, was a chemical disposition to use drugs.
