No but he's apart of the Houston Rockets Franchise that has a history of winning. Pau is part of the Grizzles franchise that has a history of...well...you know...
RealMadridFan, Why the **** do you even come here? I mean, if the only thing you do is talk about Pau freaking Gasol, just go to the other memphis grizzlies boards where your fellow comrades celebrate the grizzlies. Geez, and don't even try to argue that Pau is better. There is no contest. Pau doesn't make his teammates better. He doesn't command double teams. He would probably get owned one on one against yao in the post. And he whines like a little girl. If your whole main goal of registering to this board is to prove Pau is as good/better, you failed and you're goal is done because noone cares on this board, and rightfully so. I mean, why in the world are you trying to prove things to rockets fans about a memphis grizzly player? To me and to the rest of this board, memphis is nothing, will never be anything, and will never to amount anything in the playoffs. BUZZ OFF
Head-to-Head, Pau vs. Yao in the 4 games Memphis and Houston played last season. 11/1/03 Yao: 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks Pau: 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block 1/19/04 Pau: 24 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks Yao: 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks 3/13/04 Yao: 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks Pau: 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block 3/26/04 Yao: 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks Pau: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block I'd say Yao got the better of Pau on 3 out of 4 meetings between the two. Granted, the Grizzlies were the better team, but you cant possibly believe that Pau consistently outplays Yao.
Boy did this thread fall to crap in a hurry or what. Let's face it. Neither Yao or Pau has done crap in the NBA. They haven't led their respective teams to much success in the playoffs and they both have weaknesses that prevent them from being great players right now. This past season, Pau put up 17.6 and 8.9 while Yao put up 17.5 and 9. Sure you can argue that Yao draws more attention on one hand or Pau is more consistent on the other, but they both aren't elite yet. Let's forget this "My dad can beat up your dad stuff". Let them prove it out on the court.
Sorry, but you're gonna have to point out to me where this "proof" is. A 50-win season means that the Grizzlies were a better team than the Rockets last season. It doesn't prove that Pau is better than Yao. One game in the Olympics where Pau outplays Yao doesn't prove that Pau is better. As you can see from the stats I posted above, Yao outplayed Pau on several occasions as well. It's simply a matter of opinion. Neither player has done anything worth noting yet. Only time will tell which player is better. I'm pretty sure of one thing though: Most GMs in the league would trade Pau for Yao straight up...including your very own Jerry West.
The whole Yao, Pau thing is overlplayed because I don't thing Gasol would actually be starting at center in the west. He's more like a big forward like Tim Duncan. Yao has problems with forwards of this mold that have excellent lateral movement. Gasol is quicker, faster, and he may win his head-to-head matchups with Yao, but I guarantee you that 29 teams in the league would rather have Yao just because of his size and the constant attention he gets from opposing defenses. The Yao vs Gasol matchup is not a good one for Yao but he can hold his own.
LOL I don't think you're smart at all. Put Yao on the Spanish club and put Pau on the CHinese team and I'll laugh if Pau gets a point. LOL!
Gasol is good, but as good as he can be right now. He is not going to be another KG or TD. Yao is still on the way up.
I didn't mean Gasol was anywhere near a player Duncan is, I was refering to his physical attributes and his quickness.
Hey, I am with you. I just had some extra to ammend your comments. Look at Gasol and Yao's stats, they are almost same this year. I bet Gasol will be eaten alive going up against Shaq, nor couldnt he drop 30 pts on Shaq. Gasol is good though and anybody has to respect his qucikness and mid-range game. Yao and Gasol are two different breeds. It's not fair to compare them.
That was a charge by the NBA rules. Yao was in the restriced area. Damn, Yao needs to quit pulling that MoTay immitation while he is 7'6. I so wish he could've slam shiat out of that paly.
Whatever, I would be disappointed in Yao if he didn't rip into Bateer for chucking up a three and directly ignoring Leslie Nielsen. And since you are filled with such moral indignation -- "you don't tell another poster to "Shut up your f**k hole" in a [public forum] "no matter what." It doesn't even make sense.
ok RealMadridFan and MemphisX: since you guys are so big mouthed and like to talk a lot of smack, who would you rather have on your team? Yao or Pau?
