China vs. Greece (Yao vs. VSpan) - who do you pick?

At about 4 minutes remaining --- Garbage time. Yao sitting. Vspan still in but vspan supporting cast are all 3rd string.

 

I'm done here. The game is over. No fighting spirit from China. No defense, can't handle the ball, can't pass and can't score. The only thing they can do now is to wait for their trip home.

 

Remember Greece held Dirk to 13 a few days ago. So it is not too bad.

 

Classy Yao Ming......

He waited for Spanoulis and patted him on the shoulder congratulating his team marching into the Final 8.

He also nodded to that Baby Shaq to acknowledge hsi performance.

 

Game over Greece 95, China 64.

Vspan 15 points, Yao 10 points.

 

just frustrated talking .....but understandable
yao was pretty much on his own and not in charge.....

at least there is still hope we did well in the beginning

 

At the end of the game after did his team thing he waited for greece to exit and caught up with Vspan. He put his arm around himand started talking as they exited to gether. Gotta love that Yao. Maybe they were discussing how he can actually get the ball to Yao. Looks like they will be buddies for a long time.

 

Wow, that game looked like the game against the USA, except the Greeks don't let up on the D after they're up by 20 like the Americans do.

Yao with a disappointing 10 points 8 boards. They didn't do a good job of getting him the ball (they were too busy turning it over in the backcourt), and when he did get the ball he got triple teamed each time.

 

I know the Chinese guards are bad, but they way exceeded my wildest expectation. They were just unbelievable! I was completely speachless!

Without dicent guards, I just can not see a bright picture in 2008!

 

so, is it okay for Yao to get some rest now and some more rehab work done before training camp in October?

 

I don't understand why China actually thinks it will ever medal in any competition. Look, they got Yao Ming and ........well, Yao Ming. Forget about Yi, Chen, and any other hopefuls. The ironic thing is that Yao Ming trains with the CNT ever year for how long? And this is what they have to show for?

but they must be trained the proper way in terms of conditioning and strength

No offense but that's how every team looks against Greece. I wonder when will people stop disrespecting Greece.

I you ask me I would say V Span will be our starting guard sooner than you think. Rafer is decent but he is weak mentally(and some could argue physically also), I can still remember last season, there were countless times when he froze and made bad decisions just because something went wrong or someone got in his head.

I know FIBA is different than NBA and you can't tell too soon whether V Span will have success in the Association, but I like his toughness(mental, physical......). I think he will run the offense better than Rafer.

If it turned out to be true and Rafer can come off the bench, I think our back court will be strong so we can upgrade somewhere else and continue to get better.

 

I said that that because people don't seem to be giving any credit to the greek defense and blame the chinese guards for the massacre.

 

yeah, it seems VSpan is the real deal. the guy can shoot, penetrate, big heart. better than boki.
