Yao Ming scored 26 points (8/12 FG% 0/1 3-pointer% 10/12 FT%), 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks (???) for 34 minutes of play. 100 ~ 80 win over Senegal. So it will be live-or-dead tomorrow with Slovenia. Please Click Here For More Photos BOX SCORES
There could be a three-way tie then. although PR hasn't played italy yet. In that case do they use point differential to decide ? Then China will be out since they lost to US by 30 where the others only lost by a dozen or so.
Dam that slovenia team is going to be tough. It will be a good match up between Yao and Nesterovic, and we will get to see how Yao will fair against another NBA center. I hope he destroys him.
They've got Boki, Udrich, Rosho and Brezec. That is a decent team. What China has, the next dream, a NBA reject, and bunch of local YMCA guys.
Yeah I realized that afterwards. China needs to root for PR to win tonight or tomorrow against Italy.
China got the first win. The final score is 100 to 83 Senegal. congratulations. Yao is the best on the floor.
What is actually the rules ? Maybe they only count the points differentials between the teams involved. In that case China may wish for a three way tie and come up on top to finish 3rd in the group.
well..but wei liu sucked so much the past 3 games....i still think Sun is a better guard than wei liu to control the ball.. and the main reason for winning today is becos senegal is a much worse team than all the others.. i m just wondering if anyone know how many blocks Yao had today?
These guys could win so easily if they would just slow down, control the ball, and work it to Yao. The match and final score shows that you are right. Every thing came as you expected. I think you could send some suggestions to Chinese Coach. You are qualified commentator of Chinese basketball.
I think he plays OK. As far as I remember, he made a turn around jumper when Yao guarded him. He caused a little bit trouble to Yao when defending him. I think he is similar to a guy in Maverick ( Mengba? ). Good athelatic but need more polish.
I'm not pointing this out to be mean, but I thought you might want to know that the proper English saying is actually "live or die," not "live or dead." Please don't take any offense by me pointing that out. Thanks for keeping all of us up to date with Yao's offseason activities.
Slovenia has some decent talent... Rasho, Boki, Beno may be average to marginal NBA players, but at least they are in the NBA. I think Yao matches up well against Rasho, though. Don't know how Rasho plays in international competitioin, but I remember his NBA offense consiste of mostly 15 foot spot-up Js. So, I don't think Yao has to worry too much about Rasho getting him into foul trouble. On the other end, if Yao gets it going, nobody can stop him one-on-one, the bottomline for the Slovenians will be to deny him the ball, pressure the guards, and make the rest of the team beat them. Besides, it seems Yao's chemistry with the team is improving after not practicing with them much before the tournament. My guess it the game will be fairly competitive.
