What peaceful planet? Peace won't come through some unification junk, where there's some fairyland where there's no borders and all men really are equal, which completely ignores the fact that borders represent a different people with their different and at times superior histories and cultures. Peace can be derived through two things, hegemony or through a balance of power. It has been these moments, combined with a rational self-application of the national interest, that we have seen peace, whether within a nation such as under the Tokugawa shogunate or Europe after Napoleon.

Though I am happy you can just come and observe that yes, the United States is the most evil power in the world and far worse than China. You could have just stated that in the OP without all of this.

Not for very long. The US can be completely independent from oil imports (excluding Canada) by hopefully 2020. This is a result of Americans being more efficient and growing production in the States (aggressive exploration, horizontal drilling, etc).

Was referring to a hypothetical planet.

The US is not the most evil. It is the most powerful and by far most extended outside its borders, which makes the evil parts more prevalent and more relevant to non-Americans.

Maybe it makes you feel better to think that I hate Americans or I want America to dissolve. Whatever. If things are as you say they are, and I'm massively exaggerating the influence, then what would I benefit from America dissolving or failing? Nothing, nada. What the heck would posess me to hate America? You might believe this because your media portrays me as aggressive, jealous, less educated, more ideologically charged, etc. I'm a person just like you, why should I not assume you are militant? There is plenty of evidence which could support that if I took it out of context.

But that's not my stance. My stance is that you are not militant and aggressive by nature, and that you are being led into these atrocities through misleading information. I am using China's report as an example to amplify that point - that doesn't mean I agree with China, I'm Chinese, I live in China or I think China is better than America. It is just me trying to make a point: the information used to justify wars and foreign expansion is massively distorted. On all sides. THAT'S a breach of your security and it is a breach of your mind. It is an attempt to distort your thinking process, and plain democracy cannot overcome distortion of information.

It's this kind of report that makes you believe that terrorists are after you because they're jealous. They aren't. They're after you because you are here. That doesn't change the fact that they are irrational violent extremists who killed thousands by flying planes into WTC. But it changes the way you should react to it.

I think the world would be a much worse place if Nazis or the Chinese or the Russians ruled. This country would be in a bad situation if not for American protection. Remember, our countries are allies. What's bad for you is not good for me. So you tell me, what on earth would bring me to the point of hating Americans? Do you think I can't move there? Do you think we don't have all the modern amenities in the UAE?

Why would I hate Americans? Do you think that when those planes killed thousands of people I celebrated? Do you think I was happy, given I have family there?

Our long-term safety and well-being is linked. I want peace. You want peace. We are debating the best way to approach it. It's not going to happen overnight. But when peace is in reverse, then we have to talk. Communicate. If it didn't matter, there wouldn't be people trying to build digital walls between us.

    I don't know.

These guys are in America, and they did celebrate it.

I know many Muslims in Denmark celebrated it on the street.

Heck, I know a French Jew who for some reason thought America "deserved it".
