That's a very wrong attitude toward the money. plus there are more China companies are lined up trying to catch this endorsement thing. It is influential.

I'd keep Battier and use the shoe contracts to allure other FAs.

Since when has winning basketball games been about the money? Fans are always talking down on the Players that are "all about the money", and then this Shane/China thing comes a long. Now lots of people are saying the Rockets should really think about the money/endorsement deal rather than whats best for the actual team. What happened to the love of the game? Forget all these endorsement shoe deals and whatever, I don't think any of that should have any effect on the team itself.

As long as the Rockets have Yao chinese sponsorship deals will be a dime a dozen. They're not even a major team sponsor like Toyota and Macdonalds.

The Rockets would entertain them but probably say to them sorry we can't tell you anything.

Sorry, I was assuming you were asking a question I hadn't already answered. Take away "Chinese" from my original statement and you (already) have your answer.

I hope Shane is not traded. He's such a good teammate and good player.

If he is traded though, business is business. That's life.

I don't understand why people act so insulted, when one business partner wants to meet another in regards of one of the contributing employees of that group. Yes, it was a weak Chinese shoe company, and the other party is the loved Rockets organization. But why felt insulted? Players like TMac can talk about this potential teammate or that one, this potential coach or that one, why this LOL style outrage if one group wants to meet with another one for business?

First of all, I am not sure whether the report was true, that Peak wants to "rescue" Battier. Second, even if they want to, it's kind of surprise they want to send a group to Houston to talk about some message board rumors. Third, even if they plan to, not sure whether they want to leak it to the media to build wrong perception or pressure for themselves.

Shoemakers are involved in many many soccer player deals. I know Peak is a new comer, and it's a small company, but does their intention to even just talk to the Rockets make you some random fans feel insulted? It's just kinda funny. I guess Wal-Mart won't really feel insulted if some small Chinese supplier wants to discuss some deals with them, or about some Wal-Mart employee who's directly dealing with past deals between them. They can decide based on their own judgment for sure, but what's so wrong to talk to your visiting business partners, even just small ones?

If they want to help then how about we sign Billups to the minimum and Peak signs him up for 8mil in endorsements. Ya... That should work out nice.

i applaud battier. i think only a foreign company would be stupid enough to sign a professional athlete to a contract based on staying with one team. i mean a-rod even got traded with his huge contract. battier prolly was amazed he got offered this deal with that clause in it and signed it as soon as he could.

i think what were all intrigued by (not insulted) is that a company thinks it can really influence an NBA teams decisions.

too bad he is already with adidas

but yeah if a trade proposal comes along for the rockets in which shane is included to get a better talent and fit for the team then do it. its all about making the team better not the making the individual happy.

heck i love tmac but if someone offered the team an amazing offer go for it.

but i do find it a bit funny that shane's contract is dependent on him being a rocket, you would think that would be something he would question before signing the contract

Just tell the Peak officials two things:

    (1) The Rockets have another 10 Chinese shoe companies lining up to endorse our next PF whom Battier will be trader for and his name is even bigger than Battier.

    (2) Don't let the door hit you on your way out after the meeting.

You think Les Alexander wants a reputation of not respecting any of his endorsement partners? Even if he isn't going to change his mind on dealing Battier, he's going to be very diplomatic about it even if they can find new endorsement deals.

By the same token, the exact same fans were NOT intrigued by (not insulted) their own thoughts, that they could tell the Rockets organization how to behave childishly in business meetings, even just facing small Chinese shoe companies.
