This link is a video clip of Yao's play against Yoguslavia this morning.

    http://www.gdtv.gov.cn/viawatch/user/playlive.asp?Topic=sportsnews&DisplayName=ÌåÓýÐÂÎÅ

Please note that you have to be patient to watch this:

    (1) Click the first arrow (the date of that line is marked as ' 2002-07-02 12:47:00', and the 'real player one' window will start to connect and play on right side.

    (2) The whole progam is sports news of the day, and the game with Yoguslavia lasts about one minute from around 0'40 to 1'45. Be patient. Also note there is no sound with the news.

    Good luck.

One more thing: you have to have real one player installed to watch this.

I leave for a couple hours and people are making fun of me? Its cool. I can take it.

Also, I like Ming. I judge him harder than other players because I expect more out of him. It may seem like I dont like the guy, but Im counting on him to take the Rocks to the promise land.

yes that was what i meant. i know the nba is much harder, but 27 point in a nba game isn't verry good, as in a non-nba game it is. because in the nba they play longer and faster, so there are more points for both teams. i know this 2 games do not mean that he wil score more in the nba but it does mean he was much better than the opponents

I am in shanghai and I watched this game on TV.

I can't tell you the stats but from what I saw, Yao played pretty good. I only remember seeing him missing one or two shots all game, never mind 2 or 3 pointers.

The 2 centres he played against were 2.10 meters and 2.20 meters tall respectively. I don't know if that's 7 feet or not, Yao is 2.25 m. One guy fouled out on Ming early in the 3rd quater (you only get 5 fouls as to NBA's 6). Ming didn't dominate but made life pretty miserable for those two. One on one nobody could stop him shooting, on the rare occasion that they double teamed him, Ming could always find an open team mate with quick and accurate passing.

He does seem prone to get pushed over in contact but I guess everyone know that. 90% of the time he faces the basket in offense, very few low post moves.

In defense, he should be more dominant, there were a few occasions that people could score in his face which shouldn't happen.

I hope he can learn the necessary things in NBA to overcome those weaknesses. I am sure he will, given time. Hakeem led roackets after 9 or 10 years, so please give Ming at least 4 - 5 years to develop.

A little of what i saw is exactly what i said would happen even in the nba. Once Ming post on the side opposite of the ball and the 2 man game is working on the other side, when he rolls into the lane, its over. I don't care if Tony Atlas comes out to push him. Once he rolls and receives the ball, its 2 in the bank. He keeps the ball up high and will finish. Thats how he'll score 14pts per game his rookie yr.

    Junshao,

Thanks for your comments. I think Ming will turn out to be a good player. I think we can all agree that Ming needs to get stronger because he will get pushed around a lot in the NBA.

    China Beat Yugoslavia 92-78

TAIYUAN, Shanxi Province, July 2 (Xinhuanet) -- The NBA center duo,Yao Ming and Menk Bateer, led China to a 92-78 victory over European champions Yugoslavia on Tuesday at the Shuanglai Four-Nation men's basketball invitation here.

@@Yao Ming, who will go to the Houston Rockets as the top pick next season, stamped his domination inside with 27 points, with his national teammate Bateer, who played for the Denver Nuggets last season, added seven points in less than 10-minute plays.

@@The Chinese team learned fast from Monday's loss to Italy, setting up better defence and shooting more long-ranged baskets tobeat the Yugoslavian second team.

@@"We had only four days of practice before we came here. We are not in good shape," said Yugoslavian coach Miodrag Baletic. "But China deserved to win. They played better tonight."

@@"We are clever on defence tonight," said Chinese head coach Wang Fei. "European teams are different from Asians. They play more aggressive defence. We were not acquainted with such defence yesterday when we lost to Italy."

@@China will play Australia, who defeated Italy 79-66 in an earlier game, on Wednesday to call up the first part of the two-stop tournament. Teams will move to Dongguan of Guangdong provinceto continue the matches.
