Biden read Managed...Competition from a cue card, which I think whoever wrote it is influenced by Kevin Rudd to some degree.

There were some here going hard with the China-Biden accusations before he was sworn in, which evaporated because he kept most of the Trump sanctions, even went further with semiconductor and chip access controls, added new knowledge/worker bans in
It, and accelerated using the Quad as a counterweight to BRICS in Asia (allowed India to double dip guilt free).

The CCP as a threat has been one of the few things both parties agree upon even if neither side agrees what the other president is doing...

The potential conflict in the Taiwan Strait has been ongoing for decades, The US position has not changed, and neither has the position of Taiwan or the Chinese position. There's nothing substantially new, except that China is now perceived as more dangerous by more people in the US.

I don't think China is any more dangerous today than it was 10 years ago. I believe China is weaker today than it was 3 years ago due to poor leadership in handling COVID-19 and managing its internal economy. Additionally, the US and China's surrounding Asian partners are fostering new economic ties that are more beneficial to all involved, except China. Xi's leadership has led to a weaker China over the past few years, and its choice of a partner, Putin's Russia, may be regretted currently. I think their weakened economic state and dependency on foreign investment make them less likely to take any major military actions, as long as Taiwan don't outright claim independence or the US don't do so, which neither are doing.

The meeting between Xi and Biden is important for China to restore its relationship with the US and send a message that they want to welcome back foreign investors and businesses. Xi stated that the China-US relationship "is the most important bilateral relationship in the world." Top level military communications between the two countries are now restored. This is good for everyone, we want a better relationship, not a worse one, and that has just happened.

There is a clear and fast shift in Chinese media on this - the CCP wants a better relationship. There has also been a shift in China's leadership lately, aligned with softening China's reputation and improving relationships:

The Rise and Fall of China’s Wolf Warrior Diplomacy – The Diplomat

The Decline of Wolf Warrior Diplomacy?

To some extent, wolf warrior diplomacy has been declining of late, and China’s diplomacy is entering a period of adjustment. This is reflected in the fact that Zhao Lijian has been transferred to a relatively low-profile department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Lu Shaye will probably retire soon.

In a group study session of the Politburo, Xi Jinping “stressed adopting a narrative tone that reflects openness and confidence, yet conveys modesty and humility, in a bid to shape a reliable, admirable and respectable image of China.” These moves appear to be an attempt to tone down China’s confrontational diplomatic and media rhetoric and soften Chinese foreign policies. Beijing does not want its foreign policies to jeopardize its economic

    Sigh.

    IIRC ...

Before the Russian Jewish immigration which started when the USSR fell in the late 80s, the Jews were minority rulers in Israel ... thus apartheid.

After the Russian Jewish immigration, the Jews are now majority rulers in Israel.

Agree that the US got the upper hand out of this than the PRC. Biden far
From “slurping” Xi it was closer to the other way with Xi backing off of the wolf warrior diplomacy that he was pushing the last few
    Years.

Given the problems that the PRC is facing Xi had to play nice.

This could be a moving definition issue between us ...

The definition I was using is "rule by dominant minority". The Jews in Israel are now "rulers by dominant majority".
