No beans... ever. Just think of what your JCI original would taste like with freaking beans. Hormel Chili doesn't sell well in Texas because their original recipe has freaking beans in it.
Beans, beans- So good for your heart! The more you eat, The more you fart. The more you fart, The better you feel. So please eat beans- With every meal. Just not in the Chili! (well, not Texas chili anyway.)
i've tried cooking chilli on a couple of times. is it meant to turn shiny (i can't think of a better way to describe it, perhaps when the oil seperates?) near the end of cooking?
Damn, I was suprised to see the "beans" options get so many votes. I guess there aren't as many chili snobs here as I thought. I prefer chili with no beans, but I don't mind eating chili with beans in it...anything that makes you fart more can't be THAT bad... Does anybody have a preference on canned chili? I think Austex makes the best canned chili around. Oh yeah, and never EVER eat that stuff called "hot dog chili sauce"...That stuff is putrid. It's like bland chili mixed with water...
My wife's co-worker lived in Cincinnati for a long time. She came home last night all excited that her co-worker was making us a pot of chili. I immediately thought of bigtexxx and politely declined.
I think it has already been said. You can add beans to your chili, but Chili does not have beans in it. If it does it is technically chilli and beans.
I've seen it in grocery stores, but have never tried it. I think I'll give it a taste just out of curiosity. I know that they do put it on Spaghetti, though...chili and spaghetti? Uhh, yeah. The only thing that should be served with chili is some cheddar cheese on top and a sleeve of saltine crackers...
Nice leather shoes, by the way. Beans make your chili flavorful, and add more bang [pun intended] for your buck. They also make the chili pot last longer and everybody can get more chili than without the beans. I am a beaner. End of story. ME: "And also, pick up some WOLF Chili. And also get one of them ranch-style cans of them beans right there..." WIFE: "Ewww... you like those?" ME: "No, but it will sure make you forget my FARTS' smell after you open it."
I am from Texas and live in Nebraska and I do not use beans in my 5 alarm chili although if I eat someone elses chili it doesnt bother me.
Texas chili has no beans. "chili" with beans is actually some sort of meat-bean stew. i don't really have a problem with this "meat-bean stew," just don't call it "chili." yanks...
