Stop it. We don't even know if he was mentally ill to begin with. People without mental illness or anxiety problems, do crazy shit too.
Honestly, I'm not trying to be rude or cold, but things like this will continue to happen regardless. Not every murder and suicide is related to mental illness. I know from experience not every mentally ill person will acknowledge their problem and allow help. Agreed many people need to take mental illness more seriously.

Its upsetting and sad.....an nfl player who has made it and had a beautiful girl and baby couldnt work out their problems. I feel for the family involved and the child who will never get to know her mother and father.
NFL players have definitely not made it. They make 400k and after all the tax, agent fee,and stuff they might get 250k and they are at the risk of getting cut anytime, and I don't know how many other jobs they can get that will pay them anywhere near there.
The player that I think we are talking about is being paid almost 2 million this year. Most people would say that's damn good money. I could retire on what this guy made in one year. Tragic story.

Poor choice of words on my part. I'm not the one mentally ill. I've seen others suffer and have personally suffered the consequences of mentally ill people who won't acknowledge their condition or don't think they have a problem.
Most NFL players don't really get an education or skills to apply in a workforce. And that 250K a year is not a career. It's 2.5 years on average. It's not all it's cracked up to be, especially considering what you sacrifice. At best, they end up selling car insurance meanwhile left with permanent damage to their bodies.
That's not at best. It closer to at worst. Which as has been noted, is pretty decent after the 2.5 years netting $250k after tax. In either case, RIP to the girlfriend.
No. At worst, they end up completely broke and in-and-out of jail. Yes, they often piss away their (relative) fortune, but it's not like they were set up with the proper tools to live. Tired of people thinking that these guys are somehow lucky and given life on a silver platter.
I can't imagine being in Crennel's shoes. Having witnessed that, and now having to inspire your men to play a game in 24 hours.
This could be a death knell for the NFL and football in general. Brain damage can occur easily as this is a violent sport. Am I saying Belcher had brain damage due to football, no, there is no proof right now. But, think of how many concussions go on, and how many are underreported by players. Alex smith lost his job because he had a concussion, you think other NFL players would hide their concussion for fear of losing their starting role? you bet. These things are happening, Junior Seau, Chris Henry, both were found to have severe brain damage. Henry was also only 26. I know people love football, but admit that this sport is violent and has repercussions. Similar to boxing 40 years ago, people stopped watching because of the violence. I would not let my kid play football, nope. Play basketball, soccer, baseball. Not football.
I can't imagine they will make them play the game. Just cancel it. It's heinous for the NFL to expect them to play. Neither team will miss having played this game.
