Good call on on the Can't Hardly Wait. Some others: Save the Last Dance Mean Girls Sixteen Candles She's All That
Excellent addition - this should definitely be included. Another variation is where the guy loses his girlfriend, realizes his loss and makes himself more attractive (since the actor is already handsome, more attractive = more sensitive and better dressed = wussing out) in order to get her back. Sometimes he gets her back (when her character is perfect) and sometimes he finds a better chick (who has probably helped in his transformation to wuss) who BTW the audience was rooting for all along. Not a chick flick. Chick flicks are about feelings and perfect guys, not about humor and brilliant one-liners. You could possibly argue that this is a parody of a chick flick, but I think it is more of a fairy tale parody.
Don't know if this qualifies as a chick flick or not but I think it has all the ingredients. Garden State is a really good movie.
i watch Sex in the City. there have been a alot of episodes that hit close to home when it comes to my g/f (now ex) and i. it's kinda funny. every now i then, i'll hear from her, "see? that's you. uh huh, yep."
Why do people keep mentioning Mean Girls? That is not a chick flick by any means. It's a teen comedy...
dude, Scarface is totally a chic flick. Totally. What's more chic flickish than a sister throwing herself naked at her cocaine overdosed brother and then shooting him ...only to get shot to death moments later herself. Tony totally went on a rampage after that to avenge his sisters death! Very touching. Brought tears to my eyes.
I'm not embarassed by my choice of movies, because I think everything is simply a matter of different tastes, but some chick flix I enjoy: A Walk to Remember Say Anything The Cutting Edge
Per Rocketman95: "Someone Like You (Hugh Jackman's character is my hero)" Agreed- I like Ashley Judd's character doing the cheer-outstanding. My favorite girl - chick flick- "As Good as it Gets" __________________
Chick flicks I own: Titanic Pride and Prejudice Wimbledon (it's borderline but it does have a romantic storyline) Love Actually Garden State (borderline but again it's a romantic dramedy) Moulin Rouge Can't Hardly Wait (more of a teen flick but it does have JLH) Others I like: Clueless A Walk to Remember Jerry Maguire (another borderline one but has "chick" moments) Ever After High Fidelity Notting Hill Serendipity About a Boy Nine Months Runaway Bride (not the greatest but a guilty pleasure) Steel Magnolias (yeah I went THERE) Sleepless in Seattle You've Got Mail A League of their Own (qualifies because it's all about women) That's all I can think of right now.
Agree on The Cutting Edge Love, Actually In Her Shoes. And I also like Fried Green Tomatoes...but that might be because I actually know Ms. Masterson a little Deal is I am a community theater actor (not a great talent but o.k for an amateur)...and really bad acting is painful for me to watch. So if I have a choice between a dialog driven chickflick or an explosion driven man movie with really, really bad acting to sit through. I will go with the chickflick.
I haven't seen "The Notebook" on here yet. That is a GREAT movie. I like A Walk to Remember, if it counts, as well as Mean Girls. Thirteen going on 30 was alright. How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days is also pretty good. Sleepless in Seattle count(probably not)? What about Breakfast Club?
