Isn't there supposed to be some good Mexican food in Chicago? I've always wanted to go to Chicago for the deep dish pizza and Philly for an authentic cheesesteak ------------------ Mein bratwurst has a first name, it's F-R-I-T-Z Mein bratwurst has a second name, it's S-C-H-N-A-C-K-E-N-P-F-E-F-F-E-R-H-A-U-S-E-N
Before and after the Cubs game, there will be numerous places just a short stumble away. Behind the bleachers, at the corner of Waveland and Sheffield, is Murphy's Bleachers. Probably the best-known bar for day-of-game carousing. Also, at the opposite end of the stadium, at the corner of Clark and Addison, is the Cubby Bear. In addition, in the area, there is Hi-Tops and Sports Corner (Sheffield and Addison), and just south of Sheffield on Clark is Slugger's, John Barleycorn's, the Irish Oak, and several more bars. Before game, I recommend Murphy's Bleachers, and afterwards, for a party atmosphere, Slugger's (indoor batting cages too). Then crawl down to Irish Oak for a Jamison and Guinness, then get on home before it really hits you. Kingston Mines/B.L.U.E.S. is a four dollar cab ride from that part of town. There is so much to do there that you can walk into almost any old place and have a good time. A terrible thing, eh? The best Tex-Mex I've had in Chicago, BTW, is at North & Clybourne at a place called Uncle Julio's Hacienda. Great food, awesome fruity drinks. Cesar's at Clark and Belmont doesn't have food as good as Uncle Julio's, but the drinks are stiffer. You can get good Chicago-style pizza almost anywhere you go, but Pizzeria Uno and Gino's East may be the best of the lot. ------------------ Posting Spree 2001
