This guy sounds like a nonbeliever, so what? Most of the media feels the same way. But, by my count we beat 9 teams that had winning records and he only gave us credit for 2. Am I missing something? (Cavs x2, NO x2, Denv, GSW, a few others).
He gave us credit for 8. "Only eight of the 19 teams they have played during the streak had winning records. But there have been a few tough games, notably against New Orleans twice."
This is propaganda attempting to break our team chemistry! It is obvious that this man is determined to steal tracy mcgrady away from us...it's all he writes about.
Well, doesn't everyone play 41 games at home? Our streak away is: 11 If you read it close. He mentioned those teams because he wants us to realize they are not elite teams. We didn't beat Spurs, Boston, Lakers, Suns, Detroit.
Well, Sam Smith has the comfort of knowing the Bulls lived up to their expectations this season......oh........errr.........................wait......
it was a compliment. the lack of a player like t-mac has always been the bulls problem since they turned it around a couple years ago.
As good as Dikembe has been, let's remember he still isn't playing huge minutes and our defense is still good. The above point is a good one. Scola, Landry, Hayes...they are all comfortable switching on the pick and roll, whereas Yao, and Mutombo had to do their best to let the guard slide through - against today's PGs, that's a tough order. And I don't think this is JVG hold-over. JVG strikes me as a guy who would still, regardless of who our post defender was, try and force the slide through. I tend to believe, with the 24 second clock, and zone defense allowable, switching is almost always preferable these days. If you have a quick enough post defender to at least force the guard into a longer range shot as opposed to allowing the drive (as we now do), and can at least play decent enough fronting defense to prevent the offensive post player from posting up on your guard who has switched, you've disrupted the offense enough to make the shot more difficult. We'll have to see how this works against Utah...Tyson still got a few alley-oop dunks against the Hornets, but all in all I thought we did a decent job on pick and roll defense against a great PG with solid post players in executing that type of offense.
