Ok, explain to me the high quality free agents that brought San Antonio and Houston their titles? Utah could have traded for players like everyone else.

SA won because they tanked a season and got Duncan. Yes, I would imagine that had Utah nabbed Duncan instead, you'd have seen an Utah dynasty in the past few years.

As for the Rockets, the first one was due mainly to Rudy's system(the inside-out game at the time was quite novel) and Hakeem's incredible season. The second championship, as much as it pains me to say, we just got on an incredibly hot streak in the playoffs.

I'm not sure if you watched Utah much during the 90s. I mean, there's a reason why Rockets fans hate them. They're good. They consistently get good production out of players who would later suck big time elsewhere(Eisley, Anderson, Russel, the list goes on...). They never reached the top because they never quite were the most talented team in the playoffs.

As I've said, if Sloan got a chance to coach the Bulls of the 90s, and the Lakers of the past few years, he'd be wearing a lot of rings right now.

Well you do need a championship caliber team to to win in the finals. Thats why their called championship caliber. He maybe overated but think of this, kobe and shaq was there before phil came, other coaches before him had even more van exel, eddie jones, shaq and kobe. The year jackson came they won the first of their rings.

They also had a Kobe that was two or three years out of high school, trying to be the man and jacking up airballs in playoff games. I'd say he got a hold of the team right when the two keys hit their prime.

Anyway, a correction: The Jazz never won a championship because of karma. There is some justice in the world.
