Giricek couldn't defend a fire hydrant.

While Bonzi is a better player then Giricek overall, building a team is more about fit than just talent.
Bonzi is good in the post and can create his own shot there. Sometimes we need him there when Yao is not effective in the post. More often than not, Bonzi would not have enough touches there to make a difference.
On the other hand, when Yao and Tmac draws double team and creates an open look, Bonzi is not the right man to take advantage of it. He is not a good stand still shooter.
I don't know if a trade is even comtemplated but when you discuss trade, you need to think about more than just individual talents.

I hope the Eddie Curry for Yao trade goes through, we need to get some mobility and skill in the low post.

Also I heard they are thinking of getting Ryan Bowen back along with some draft choices in exchange for Tmac and Luther Head.

Just think of the one-two punch we'd have with Flyin Ryan and Eddie Curry!!! Start the Chuck Wagon too and we'd be an offensive power house!!!

Supposedly we are resigning Rod Strickland too to help us with our championship run.

    New Starting Line-up will be:

    Rod Strickland
    Kirk Snyder
    Ryan Bowen
    Chuck Hayes
    Eddie Curry

What do you guys think!!???? :D

He was joking, maestro! Check page 1, post 13.

Yes, both ideas are clearly ignorant. Bonzi though at times drives me crazy with his missed layup attempts, it's a no brainer the Sixers OF COURSE would take this trade in a heartbeat. Some just don't seem to remember the frustration we had matching up with a 'Bonzi' team when he was in Portland and Sacramento.

The original OP proposal would be like SA offering Horry for Bonzi. Bottom line, the Rockets would be dubbed the dumbest franchise EVER! No way Morey does any of the suggested on this thread.

Yes but, potentially he offers another legitimate long range shooter to keep defenses honest especially come playoff time.

Giricek went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc in the Utah series last year. That has to count for something but ... no way Bonzi for Giricek. That's a trade that makes us collectively worse. NO DEAL!

Snyder for Giricek, I'm game for that one! :D

THis is from the chron.com blog

obviously there is some truth to this whole "rumor"

Hey Jonathan...Sam Smith out of Chicago is reporting the Rockets are trying to trade Bonzi Wells to Philadephia for Gordon Giricek. Any truth to that rumor?

(They have talked a bit about Bonzi and Kirk Snyder. I don't think either have gotten anywhere, with Kirk the more likely to move. -- Jonathan)

    Yeah sure,no problem Chicago.
Bonzi finally recovers from the groin, gets in shape,is playing well for RA -the coach who gets the most out of him.The guy knows the system like the back of his hand and is kryptonite in the playoffs.
Sam is sitting over there trying to take down his value - He's also expiring.

Bonzi is more important to the chemistry of this team than some might think.I never thought I would say that, but it's true.

    So piss off Sam!

Your going to have to up the ante.

Giricek is terrible this year. He's been in this league for some time now, I remember him playing in the 90's. It stands to reason that age has deprived him of his utility in this league. And the Rockets do not want to get rid of Bonzi, he just happens to be one of our few assets (serviceable player, low expiring contract).

After reading it again I don't think Giricek for Bonzi is implied. He just wrote Johan Petro, Mickael Gelabale, Wally Szczerbiak, Damien Wilkins, Bonzi, and Giricek are all being shopped.

Looking at it more closely maybe there is some truth to the rumor.

*Tony Parker's bone spur, less need for a Spurs-killer
*Emergence of Scola & Landry, no minutes for Bonzi at the 4
*Preference of Head as the backup SG because of the spacing he creates with his 3P shooting.
*Expiring contract. Unless a team happens to have a TE Bonzi is gone for nothing, ie no benefit in keeping him for a S&T as they don't want to take back salary since Landry is also a free agent.
*Rockets recognise a need for another PG
*A trade piece to get one or even to help move Mike James's contract.
*Going after Danilo Gallinari in the draft who plays for Milan a team Morey scouted on his recent Euro trip.

But objectively he defended T-Mac on certain occaisions pretty darn good in the playoffs last season. It's laughable that the rockets would even consider doing Bonzi for Girichek trade. Snyder maybe, but no way Bonzi.

Enough is enough. You are a sick mental r****d who needs to see a doctor if you consider yourself a Rockets fan.

But he plays as if he's in his 90's... :D

But, seriously - - where did it, ie Sammy the 'I have a column in a major paper and you don't' Smith, say anything about Bonzi and GG in the same sentence?
