A depressing cross section of 'society.'

I hope -some- justice comes of this, and the useless jackals who barbarically beat that boy to death are removed of their ability to do anyone else further harm. I know what I'd suggest, but since it's not in the D&D, I'll leave it at that.

    Absolutely sickening.

the "Stop Snitching" phenomena has gone too far, you can't even get help identifying the killers from the video.

how many do they have in custody?

haven't read everyone's comments but that was a pretty horrifying thing to see.
Nowadays, no one cares about these kids, or the fact that the education they are recieving completely sucks. Its all about power and money. Who can make the best football stadium, who can sell out the best venues, who can look the best out on the red carpet. I'm almost certain VERY FEW of those people take the time to reach out. Granted, you can't reach out to everyone and not everyone listens and takes advantage of the opportunities presented to them. But damn, who's gonna show them the love they need? Who's gonna be their role model? Who takes the time to tell these kids that they can be somebody...its not always their parents. Sometimes we all get caught up in petty things and worry about who's a douchebag and who's not. who wears a baseball cap backwards or who watches the VMA's LOL. What happened to showing LOVE??

ok thats enough venting for the day!! :D glad i got that off my chest! anyway, you can disagree with me all you want, bottom line is one person can make a difference and it starts with ourselves. have a good day my friends.

These barbaric animals should be put down like we would do to a pit bull if it attacked and killed someone. These creatures are not Human.

This probably deserves its own thread, but this story reminded me of this tragedy.

Although this kid is still alive, one could argue that this was even more heinous. I hope they look the offenders up for a long long time.

Police: Juveniles laughed after setting 15-year-old on fire

(CNN) -- Five juveniles were in custody Tuesday after a 15-year-old was intentionally set on fire at a Deerfield Beach, Florida, apartment complex, police said.
Brewer ripped off his shirt and jumped into a pool after a resident put out the flames, local media reported.

Brewer ripped off his shirt and jumped into a pool after a resident put out the flames, local media reported.

Michael Brewer suffered second-degree burns over 80 percent of his body. "He's in for a long, long recovery," Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti told reporters.

Three juveniles were arrested Monday night, hours after the incident, and two others were arrested Tuesday, sheriff's Sgt. Steve Feeley said.

"A couple of them last night were laughing about it," he said. "One of them arrested today seems genuinely sorry about it."

The youths all attend school together, police said, and Brewer apparently owed one of the suspects $40 for a video game and had not paid it. So the suspect allegedly stole the victim's father's bicycle, Feeley said. Brewer reported the bicycle stolen Sunday, and the suspect was arrested that day, taken to a detention center and released to his parents early Monday, police said. Video Watch Lamberti describe the alleged motive ยป

Neither Brewer nor the suspect went to school Monday, and the victim was waiting at the apartment complex for his friends when the suspect and two other people approached him, Feeley said.

From what the suspects and witnesses have told police, the suspect yelled, "He's a snitch, he's a snitch" and "pour it on him." Another juvenile threw what police believe was rubbing alcohol on Brewer from a plastic jug and used a lighter to set him on fire, he said.

Witness Provindencia Maldenero told CNN affiliate WPLG, "I saw a kid throwing something at the other kid, and next thing you know, the kid was on fire. He was up in fire."

A resident used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, and Brewer jumped into the complex's swimming pool, WPLG reported.

Malissa Durkee, the teen's sister, told WPLG on Monday night that her brother was in critical condition. Lamberti said Brewer is expected to be hospitalized for five months.

"In my 31 years -- I always say, 'it's the most heinous crime I've ever seen,' " Lamberti told reporters Tuesday. "This one fits in that category. The fact that a person would intentionally ignite another child on fire -- it's indescribable."

Brewer "reported somebody for stealing his dad's bike," the sheriff said. "That's what this comes down to. It's retaliation. They deliberately sought him out, poured alcohol on him and set him on fire. I can tell you there's no way to explain it, no way to rationalize it."

Police believe the three arrested Monday night took an "active role" in the incident, while the other two helped surround Brewer and prevented him from leaving, Feeley said.

He said authorities are hoping to interview Brewer on Wednesday or Thursday.

Lock them in a room and let 'em on fire. I don't care how old they are.

This is really sad I have a little brother that will be 16 soon I don't know what I would do if something like that happen to him. I see things like this going on too much in the city of Detroit and its almost a part of life that's the sad part. What really gets to me is that the 16 year was a good kid going to school getting good grades and trying to do something with his life, and now his life is gone. I hope the kids who did this have a nice long life in prison. I want them to live everyday and have to think about what they did, and why they will never get out of prison.

    .
I don't think any of them should get the death penalty because all types of killing is wrong. I think life in prison will do just fine.
