Star Pizza is kind of a Houston institution and has a lot of fans but is it really Chicago Deep Dish?

Haven't tried this place on Cavalcade, might have to, but I've tried everything else in Houston that's been rated well. Nothing comes close to even mediocre-level deep dish pizzas from Chicago. We just don't do it right here so stop looking or have them shipped.

They have deep dish and new york style.

THey guys who own Star's are both from Chicago.

Star is great. Only thing I recommend is, don't put too much on your pizza, particularly veggies. Last time I went, I ordered sausage and spinach (my favorite when I'm in Chicago); there was way too much spinach. Almost half the cheese was substituted with spinach, which ruined the pizza. The best pizza I've had at Star is just a plain one meat topping. Closest thing I've had to Chicago deep dish.

I'll have to try Chicago Italian Beef. I noticed that this place is right down the street from Dairymaids, one of the best cheese suppliers in town... coincidence?

Yeah, he had pizza cutter for hands instead of hands.

You know how lame that is?

Jacoby jones is not Ray Borque. Even bruin fans thinks that's lame.

Is it sad that I want to return to Chicago just to eat at Pequods?

Candelari's is good deep dish too but it's not chicago style.

Cheapest option is cici's deep dish. Not terrible for the price.

I'm with you on this man.

I bought an extra one when I was there last and was going to bring it home, but like an idiot I left it in the fridge at my hotel. So mad.

Star doesn't get the crust right, too thick and still ends up with a soggy center. Star's NY style is great, but they strike out on the deep dish. I may be too tough of a critic though, I rate deep dish on a scale of 1 to Giordanos.

Two pages and no mention of Fuzzy's? Best pizza in Houston, hands down. Their Chicago deep dish is absolutely amazing.

I like Fuzzy's also. Antonio's in Deer Park is super also.

Alfredo Pizza with grilled chicken and sauteed spinach!

I want Lou Malnati's...I'll even take Giordano's stuffed pizza.

I might get smacked, but I kind of like BJ's deep dish.

JaGoofy Jones sold his soul to the devil. How else can one explain his resurgence from his inability to run downfield on punt returns to his last minute game tying touchdown catch in the playoffs, getting a Super Bowl ring, and appearing on Dancing with the has-been Stars.

I went to Pequod's during last year's trip to Chicago to watch the Texans play Da Bears. After a two hour wait, I'm almost certain I jizzed a little in my pants after taking my first bite of their deep dish pizza.

Fuzzy's is great. Doesn't touch Chicago pizza.
