AAAHHH!!!!!!!!!! MY EARS ARE BLEEDING!! Wait, I mean, umm.. MY EYES ARE BLEEDING!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! By the way.. what happened to that guy's face, anyway? Did his face get stepped on when he was little or something??
Fox 26 Sports reported today that the the current offer for Mutombo is Wilks, Griffin, and Pike. I think he would be a great fit. Based on the transcript of today's news conference he is exactly what the Rockets are looking for. On if the backup center situation is something Dawson is still actively pursuing. DAWSON: "Yes, that's one of the things that we're looking at right now. Of course, this took quite a while right here, but the fact is that... a priority now is to find somebody that can block shots and guard the paint. There's no secret, with Jeff's defense last year and Yao Ming and (Kelvin) Cato back there, it was hard to get anything but a jump shot against us. That's why we led the league all year in field goal percentage against us, and we like that concept. If we can find another shot-blocker, that's the direction we're going. But worst-case scenario, especially with Shaq out of the West now, I think that helps all of the big men in the West.
Ewing, Stockton, Payton, and Drexler were not better players, the only player you missed was Barkley, and that depends on when you think Pippen was in his prime.
The only reason Pippen was listed as a top 50 player was Michael Jordon. He was a good complimentary role player when he came to the Bulls but as the two years when MJ went to the minors will show, he aint carrying no team....
92-93 they win 57 games and a championship with Jordan. 93-94 they win 55 games and are one dumb foul or horrible call away from the east finals, that's after replacing Michael Jordan with Ahmad Rashad. 94-95 they weren't as good after losing Horace Grant but they still won close to 50 games and would of made the playoffs without the Jordan comeback.
Uh, he put up nearly 22-9-6 with 3 steals, 1st team All-NBA, 1st team All-defense, All Star Game MVP, all without MJ in 93-94, had a season record of 55-27. They even won their first round playoff series, and lost to the eventual EC champs the Knicks. For a team whose second best player was probably BJ Armstrong, that's damn good. In the season where MJ made his "comeback" (94-95), Pippen led the Bulls in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, and again was first team all-NBA and all-defense. No one had done that (lead team in pts, rebs, assists, steals, and blocks) in nearly 20 years. Pippen was a jackass when he was with the Rockets and a shell of his former self since, but during his prime with the Bulls, he was one of the best in the league. Anyone care to argue that Kobe Bryant isn't a top 10 player in the league because he was the 2nd fiddle on his team? Kobe's team only won 3 titles, Pippen was the #2 guy on a 6-time champion. Jordan, Hakeem, Malone, are the only clearly defineable players better than Pippen in his prime. Robinson and Barkley were probably on equal, maybe slightly better footings, and he was probably on the same footing with Stockton , probably above Payton, Drexler, Ewing. Even if you include them all, you're still only at 9 players.
payton was better without a doubt. not sure about stockton cuz of his D. Drexler in his prime(88-91) was better but it may not have been at the same time as pippen's prime. Ewing was always overrated. Reggie Miller? Alonzo mourning?
What do you think about this trade proposal...I think this would work great for us... Portland trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes) Portland receives: PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +12.2 ppg, +4.6 rpg, and +1.4 apg. Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 7.0 minutes) SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 minutes) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 30.7 minutes) Houston receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 85 games) C Dikembe Mutombo (5.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 65 games) Change in team outlook: -21.8 ppg, -2.9 rpg, and -6.2 apg. Chicago trades: C Dikembe Mutombo (5.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 23.0 minutes) Chicago receives: SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19 games) SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 49 games) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 76 games) Change in team outlook: +9.6 ppg, -1.7 rpg, and +4.8 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Portland, Houston, and Chicago being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Portland, Houston, and Chicago had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
This would give us a line up of: C: Yao/Deke/Shareef PF: Shareef/SP/Weatherspoon SF: JJ/Boki/TM SG: TM/BS/ PG: CW/BS/Wilks I'll be waiting to hear your replies...
Yeah, it's great for the Rockets, and absolutely nonsensical for the other teams: Portland can't find enough minutes at the 4 for Randolph as it is: they were playing Rasheed at the 3 for most of the season until they traded him, and Shareef wants to go because he's being forced to play out of position at the 3 now. The absolute last thing they'd want to do is add another couple of 4's now. Chicago is trapped in a perpetual youth movement. That means they have to keep the core of their future (Chandler, Curry, Deng, Gordon, Hintrich and maybe that Argentinian guy), as well as guys who can (sorta) produce right now, like Davis and Robinson. They have two very specific concerns (getting something usable for Deke, who is threatening retirement, and getting some length on the perimeter) that happen to fit nicely with Houston's surplus of bench swingmen and need for a backup center. Notwithstanding all that, Chicago has something like 17 players on their roster right now, and they're only going to make moves to trade depth for skill, not the other way around. They certainly aren't going to take the deep end of the Rocket's bench off our hands for pretty much nothing. And here's the kicker: because Deke was traded recently, until mid-October he can only be traded straight-up; he can't be packaged with another player. Pike for Deke works under league rules, and it works for both teams involved. That's why it could happen. I can't see Portland (who with the west being so unstable probably see themselves as a marginal playoff team) giving us Shareef for players they can't use effectively.
Alright new trade proposal.....I am just bored at work thinking about ways the ROX could improve thier team. This is trade proposal I did on Realgm.com... Portland trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes) Portland receives: SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 7.0 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SF Eddie Robinson (6.7 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 20.1 minutes) Change in team outlook: +2.5 ppg, +0.6 rpg, and +1.0 apg. Houston trades: SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 7.0 minutes) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 30.7 minutes) PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) Houston receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 85 games) Change in team outlook: -23.3 ppg, -8.1 rpg, and -6.1 apg. Chicago trades: SF Eddie Robinson (6.7 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 20.1 minutes) Chicago receives: PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 76 games) PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 81 games) Change in team outlook: +20.8 ppg, +7.5 rpg, and +5.1 apg. Then since you said that we can't get DEKE in a packaged trade we could just trade EP and DEKE separate... Houston trades: SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 minutes) Houston receives: C Dikembe Mutombo (5.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 23.0 minutes) Change in team outlook: +1.5 ppg, +5.2 rpg, and -0.1 apg. Chicago trades: C Dikembe Mutombo (5.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 23.0 minutes) Chicago receives: SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 49 games) Change in team outlook: -1.5 ppg, -5.2 rpg, and +0.1 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and Chicago being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Chicago had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. SORRY ABOUT THE LONG POST --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scottie Pippen is absouletely in the top 50 players of all time. Not sure about top 10. He played great in his prime. He just didn't fit in Houston.
