We can get Mutombo in exchange for part of the trade exception, correct? And then we can send out Pike as a "separate" deal, and Chicago could take Pike back since he makes less than the Mutombo salary we sent out. Or in other words, Chicago uses the TE from the Mutombo trade to Houston to take back Pike. Or am I missing something?
I REALLY like that trade and I would think Chicago would like having Howard to give them some inside scoring to go with all their guards and veteran leadership on a young team. But would they want his contract and would they be willing to give up on Chandler? I guess if they felt like thay weren't going to sign Chandler after the season and wanted to get something nice in return, then they do it. The other players involved are just fillers that fit better on the other team. Mikee Likes!
When I finally decide I like Jones for our particular needs, he gets signed by Miami for only 2.5 mil/yr ... crap!
The way the article is worded, it clearly implies Pike for Mutombo, so you can give up on all the other fanciful stuff.
I agree, though I could see Frank Williams or another backup PG possibly being included given Chicago's depth in that area.
Gee, a great crack about crack -- but, Gordon will be Bulls lead guard. Someone (from Grizz for Curry ?) will be 2 guard. Pax loves Howard, so it has been reported. Hinrich here? I don't know. But Hinrich somewhere? Yes.
If we can get Duhon or Pargo for Pike and Mutombo for the TE, that would be nice. I think Pargo would be a perfect fit for this team. Excellent shooter, hard worker, good enough to bring the ball up and perfect to spot up for the 3-pter. He fits.
Actually, he just turned 38 in June (Height: 7-2 Weight: 265 Born: June 25, 1966, Kinshasa, Zaire) -- droxford
Dude, get off it. Hinrich is not on the block. We've been trying to convince you of this for weeks. He's 6'4", 190, and athletic. Similar to Cat Mobley. He can play both guard spots. Gordon is 6'3", 180, and super athletic. About the same as a young Steve Francis. He can play both guard spots. Gordon and Hinrich is the Bulls' starting backcourt next season. Unless you think Duhon, a second round pick, is good enough to start (and I doubt you do, unless you're Richard Justice)
Mutombo would be a good short term solution at backup C for us. Pike won't get many minutes in JVG's system but would be the only big guard in Chicago. I think that it's a good deal for both teams. However, there's a real possibility that we could get one of Chicago's PGs. They now have Hinrich/Duhon/F. Williams/Pargo at point while Gordon can play there as well. It's awfully crowded. I bet that one of Duhon/F. Williams/Pargo can be had for cheap. I like Frank Williams' game. He's 6'3" and physically strong. He's a tough perimeter defender and he's got a good outside jumper. I think that he would be a perfect fit in JVG's system.
I hope you haven't forgotten our tip jar wager..... Pike for Mutombo would be a very nice trade. If Paxson is dumb enough to trade big for small, let's pounce. Evan
If we could get Mutombo as a backup it would be a out of the park home run. It would be as if we lost nothing in trading Cato. Whether he is 38 or 50 doesn't matter he still had 10 block shots in one game last season and I believe he had 17pts, 18rbs against the T-Wolves. If Yao can't learn how to throw a good sharp elbow to someones throat from the two or three time defensive player of the year he's got problems. Make this deal work.
Can't the Rockets use their trade exception to take up the difference between Mutnobo and Pike's contracts?
I like the idea of Mutombo. Imagine he plays along side MoT. There's your offensive post threat. On defense, Mutombo scares the opponent out of the lane and grabs all the rebounds. Sounds good to me. I'm sold. Make it happen.
bottom line is he's 7'2". He's still somewhat of a presence. We do need more height or another shot blocker, especially against Duncan and other big men. I was hoping for maybe Griffin or Horry but Mutombo would do.
