So... let me get this right.... another team gets to take on 2/28 for Deng, AND give up a lottery pick... even though he will miss the beginning of next year with surgery and has had the benefit of playing with of the the top 4-5 players in the league?

You can view anything I say about the grizzlies here as extremely slanted towards defending the grizzlies.

About the same as any rocket fan when anybody who isn't a rockets fan brings up how inept tmac was, or yao, or how we think Kyle Lowry is a bowling bowl.

How on Earth does Rudy Gay have so much trade value

Probably could havve had Dwight by now if we had just kept him

Hoopsworld rumor doesn't equal trade value. An actual trade is the measurement of trade value. If Rudy Gay could have gotten you Dwight Howard, Memphis would have made the trade long ago.

If the grizzlies wanted dwight howard we could get him.

Gay + Gasol would net dwight in a heartbeat. But the grizzlies would never make that deal.

I agree that the Magic would take that deal.. but the odds of Dwight Re-Signing in Memphis make Houston look like LA.

Its a Hoopworlds source that SI just picked up and speculated on. Do not see the broke Bobcats trading #2 for Rudy Gay and another 15mil per year in contracts for another 8 wins.

Harden on the other hand.. that's more interesting. If OKC really can't afford 4 max contracts would be interesting to see what he can do as the focus of the offense in Charlotte. Seriously doubt OKC would bite though.

Never been a big Deng fan. A plus role player but don't think he makes the Kings (or whoever's that deep in the lottery) a playoff team.

Because, they know Prima-Donna Howard wants no part of Memphis with his ambitions of becoming a mega-star beyond the basketball court.

Golden State is another good candidate, but Chicago will have to take back some salaries.

Toronto Raptors - Fantasy (yet possible) roster for next year

C - FA Center (Aaron Gray-returns, Robin Lopez, Brook Lopez, Spencer Hawes, Javale McGee)
    PF - Andrea Bargnani
    SF - Luol Deng
    SG - DeMar Derozan
PG - Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, or Goran Dragic (Calderon is dealt or comes off the bench)

That would be a fun team to watch.

It makes perfect sense for the Bulls. The team that's giving up the draft pick? Not so much.

Toronto are re-building their team around their new franchise player Valanciunis at C.

Think Golden State (Specifically said that they needed versatile small forward and do not want to bring too many more young players). 4 picks currently in this draft (2 in the first and 2 in the second). Problem for them, they are unlikely to find a versatile small forward in this draft .

The Warriors are pretty much set at center, pf, sg, and pg.

The West is going to be super tough, yet again.

    Elites:
    San Antonio
    OKC
    Los Angeles Lakers

    Good teams:
    Los Angeles Clippers
    Memphis Grizzlies
    Dallas Mavericks (but falling)
    Denver Nuggets

    The Big gray area:
    Utah
    Houston
    Phoenix
    Sacramento
    Minnesota
    Golden State

It might, but the Griz sure don't seem like a team to risk a 1 year rental. So we shall probably never know.

I'd like to see the private "Grizzlies Board" only version of "what", where Rudy Gay is on Keith Van Horn's level.

The griz should just do it. I think a team of conely, allen, dwight, zbo, arthur could make some noise in the playoffs and dhoward might stay. They would clean up on the glass with howard + zbo.

Forget about luxury tax. If you wanna win an NBA title - you will evetually have to pay the luxury tax. It has to be done. OKC will be doing it too whyen they resign Ibaka and Harden.

The Bulls are looking at competing with Miami. Why in the hell would they give up in integral piece in Deng for a lottery pick. It would set them back years.

What they need to do is dump all the j*zz thats hangin around. Boozer, Brewer and Korver suck.

I hear the Rockets are also STRONGLY considering dealing Kevin Martin and/or Luis Scola for a lottery pick, as are several other teams that have average players making more money than they're worth.

. . . Like I said, they probably will sign a center in free agency.
