So I tried to start smoking but it did not work out. It was a pain to go outside and when it rains it is hard to ash without putting out the cig so it just didn't work out and I was unable to pick up smoking.

Then when watching The Outlaw Josey Wales I saw Clint Eastwood buying some cool looking chewing tobacco that I found out are called plugs and are still sold.

So if anyone here chews tobacco please help out someone trying to start.

    1. I need a good suggestion for a spit cup so I can chew while on the go, any suggestions?

    2. If you chew plug tobacco do you bite off a chew or break it off?

    3. Will it be easier to pick up than smoking? I gave smoking an honest shot but after several cartons it just seemed like the benefits were overshadowed by the inconvenience.

    Thanks

And what were the benefits, if you don't mind my asking?

I mean, I can kind of agree with those who say that smoking makes you look cooler (and this definitely varies from person to person), but frankly, chewing tobacco just makes you look grimy.

How old are you? And why are you trying to pick up smoking or chewing?

Smoking is not cool and doesn't make you look cool. The smell clings to your clothing and it's not pleasant. And chew just rots your teeth, gums, and lip. It's not attractive to watch someone spit nasty crap into a bottle.

Why is this so important to you?

This can't be serious. I refuse to believe someone is actually trying to "pick up" smoking or chewing tobacco.

Just looking for some tips. I got some good suggestions on brands when I tried to start smoking and hope the same help comes from my chewing endeavor.

Nicotine in small amounts is actually not that bad. It increases alertness for about half an hour and also helps in memory, especially when studying.

BUT, on the flip side, it's easy to get addicted and everyones addiction level is different. So, if you do get addicted to ten cigs a day, then you're pretty much screwed. I would never recommend someone smoking unless they have a super strong will power and can avoid addiction. There are other ways to increase alertness: coffee, shower, etc.
