    EXPOSED!

Nice identification with the murderous conquistadors, by the way. "Exploiting the powerless since the sixteenth century!" :D

Also, on their mounts, they too were wont to ride around in circles declaring victory while fighting no one. Seriously. I couldn't have written it any better. Several of the more famous Conquistador 'victories' were against abandoned cities, or people who weren't fighting them.

    This is priceless.

How fitting to ascribe your self the honor of being a Conquistador whose primary motivation, and that of the Republican party, is the three G's: GOD, GOLD and GLORY--in any order :D

OK, I'm dense, so let's try this again...

    1. How can he give after-tax proceeds to charities unless they are worth more than zero? If he does give after-tax proceeds of more than $0 to charity, does he deduct that amount and therefore lower his tax bill?

    2. The Office of Government Ethics says unexercised stock options and deferred salary are ties to a former employer. If Cheney has these, how is he not tied to Halliburton?

Sen. Lautenberg: Cheney still has financial ties to Halliburton

    - - - - - - - - - - - -
    ASSOCIATED PRESS

Sept. 26, 2003 | WASHINGTON (AP) -- A report by the Congressional Research Service undermines Vice President Dick Cheney's denial of a continuing relationship with Halliburton Co., the energy company he once led, Sen. Frank Lautenberg said Thursday.

The report says a public official's unexercised stock options and deferred salary fall within the definition of "retained ties" to his former company.

Cheney said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" that since becoming vice president, "I've severed all my ties with the company, gotten rid of all my financial interest. I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had, now, for over three years."

Democrats pointed out that Cheney receives deferred compensation from Halliburton under an arrangement he made in 1998, and also retains stock options. He has pledged to give after-tax proceeds of the stock options to charity.

Cheney's aides defended the assertion on NBC, saying the financial arrangements do not constitute a tie to the company's business performance. They pointed out that Cheney took out a $15,000 insurance policy so he would collect the deferred payments over five years whether or not Halliburton remains in business.

Lautenberg, D-N.J., asked the Congressional Research Service to weigh in.

Without naming Cheney or Halliburton, the service reported that unexercised stock options and deferred salary "are among those benefits described by the Office of Government Ethics as 'retained ties' or 'linkages' to one's former employer."

Lautenberg said the report makes clear that Cheney does still have financial ties to Halliburton. "I ask the vice president to stop dodging the issue with legalese," Lautenberg said.

Cathie Martin, Cheney's spokeswoman, said the question is whether Cheney has any possible conflict of interest with Halliburton, "and the answer to that is, no."

Cheney was chief executive officer of Halliburton from 1995 through August 2000. The company's KBR subsidiary is the main government contractor working to restore Iraq's oil industry in an open-ended contract that was awarded without competitive bidding.

I'm so hot, you can fry eggs and bacon on my chest.

Actually, that's a nickname that T_J started using for me -- the alleged reason is that I, on a number of occasions, reminded the BBS that he claims to shave his chest. I'm not sure how nicknaming me logically follows, but I like it. I believe he said that he took the nickname from some other BBS in his life, but I'm not jealous.

B-Bob, it is readily apparent that you are green with envy that you are not the sole owner of the Sizzle Chest moniker. If you prefer, I can begin calling you Sizzlin' Chest.

Well, FWIW, as you say yourself about 'expected' earnings....the market has already factored in expected profits from Iraq, including some expectations of additional, unexecuted contracts as of yet. Doesn't look like Iraq will push the options into the money much, if at all.

But I would agree that the options have value. Maybe not much, but they aren't worth zero.

As funny as that "speaking T_J Conquistador" is...hehehehe...You have to know that only makes him puff-up more because you took the time to parody him. It's like the bad kid at school--any attention is good attention. Still, I can only say:

    PRICELESS

The only way he sees it is if someone else quotes me. I think I got put on his ignore list ages ago.
The only time I ever talk(post) to him is to rag on him for his pompousness.
otherwise, I just lurk and laugh..;)

besides, it didnt take hardly anytime to do it..I had his head chopped from another chop I did a while back. Just added it to the pic and added words.

    You're welcome :).

Plus, I doubt many people use the ignore list as much as they say they do...many people will just say it as a jab to someone else and not really do it...

Rockets2K, I've never had you on my ignore list. The only people I've had on it are pgabriel, RC Cola, and Mrs. JB. I declared a day of amnesty and removed pgabriel and Mrs. JB from it a few months ago.

Okay, I don't get RC Cola at all...I've never once seen him post anything inflammatory or even border-line rude. He doesn't bother speaking on anything political either, I've always thought he was a real nice kid...
