So its okay for the VP to exploit the Al Qaeda threat to get his ticket re-elected but its wrong to start a thread on the fact that the American death toll in Iraq has reached 1,000, something major news outlets are reporting.

I'm still waiting for you to explain this. Here's the quote again, plain as day.

Please, explain how Sam misquoted this, especially since he just posted the AP article. How did the AP misquote this? I don't think you have an answer either.

You are a pathetic partisan simpleton. Educate yourself, if you dare.

RocketmanTex, what would the 9-11 families who lost loved ones think about your last post?

You are the one that brought up car crashes in relation the loss of life our brave troops have incurred in Iraq.

The threat from terrorism is from overreaction. If we lose ourselves to fear after terrorism and allow any of our civil liberties to be reduced then that is a grave danger. If we panic after terrorists attacks and toss out our guiding principles such as war as a last resort, standing as a beacon of democracy, freedom, and taking the high road on human rights, then terrorism is has struch a horrible blow, indeed. But if we keep our heads, our principles, and values then we have little to fear from terrorism.

I'm not diminishing the threat from anything. I'm just relying on the facts that you brought up, and shining a little light on Cheney's scare tactics.

Some of them would agree with me, T_J.

I invite you to educate yourself by clicking the link below.....

September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows

    From the website:

"September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows condemns unconditionally the illegal, immoral, and unjustified US-led military action in Iraq. As family members of September 11th victims, we know how it feels to experience "shock and awe," and we do not want other innocent families to suffer the trauma and grief that we have endured. While we also condemn the brutality of Saddam Hussein's regime, it does not justify the brutality, death and destruction being visited upon Iraq and its citizens by our own government."

Nice try RMTex, but a handful of families who object to Iraq has nothing to do with your outrageous mocking of the terrorist threat level. I find it incredible how you think that is an adequate response. Your post was immature and offensive.

A handful? Guess again, Mr. Math! "Outrageous mocking of the terrorist threat level"? "Immature and offensive"?!?!?

Well, if I get a reaction like that from a propagandist like you, I must be doing something right. Here's another one, Trader Goebbels. Don't choke on it too hard, mmmkay!

It doesn't matter what thread you write it in, they all end up the same anyway.

Opening Paragraph, First Inaugural Address of Franklin D. Roosevelt

I am certain that my fellow Americans expect that on my induction into the Presidency I will address them with a candor and a decision which the present situation of our Nation impels. This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself--nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.

Exactly what is so F_R_I_G_H_T_E_N_I_N_G about what Cheney said?

He simply acknowledged to a group of his supporters than Kerry's election would mean an end to the aggressive, pro-active, pre-emtpive posture of the US with regards to terrorists around the world.

Remember, Kerry wants to sneak up on them.

What I take from this is underlying intelligence that A-Q is constantly probing and plotting for a soft underbelly somewhere. The more aggressively we rout them out the safer we will be.

The lie was in his spokesperson disowning the opinion he expressed. She said he wasn't trying to "connect the dots." It's right there in his quote: "if" this, "then" that. There is no more clear example of connecting the dots than that.

I didn't mean to piss you off with the 'served' thing. I like you. You drive me nuts sometimes, but I still like you. I meant it as a benign needling. GV had posted a better, funnier, crisper version of my original argument to you and I was just giving him props. It also wasn't just a driveby -- it came at the end of a considerably longer, on topic post. Sorry you took it badly. There are several of us on the right and on the left who poke fun at each other or even get pissed at each other or insult each other from time to time, but that doesn't make us trolls. There are others who intentionally employ the majority of their posts to start a fight. (One of them even proudly trumpets pissing people off as a strategy. LOL.) That's not me and you know it. Sorry again for that other thing.
