If you don't like soccer, then of course you won't enjoy the 90% of 2 hours without goals. There is a lot more to soccer than scoring goals. for example <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/L3EZqlfgz1Y"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/L3EZqlfgz1Y" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I believe that faking injuries suck, no matter the sport. I have respect for the game of soccer but I have no respect for faking injuries. If it considered "part of the game", then that game sucks. Could you imagine faking injuries in football? The player would be crucified. I heard that MLS really doesn't want it. That's cool. I also played soccer for about 8 years. I bunch of guy I played with then played for the high school team but I wasn't interested in it at the time. But that was back in the '70/'80s. I guess we Americans lads didn't know much back then so faking injuries was never even considered. 58% of Players Treated on Pitch during World Cup were not actually injured If it seemed to you like a lot of players were faking injuries at the 2006 World Cup your intuition was correct. FIFA’s chief medical officer, Professor Jiri Dvorak, presented a report today that detailed the extent of actual injuries versus the fake kind. “Fifty-eight per cent of the players who were treated on the pitch during the 2006 World Cup eventually turned out not to be injured,” confirmed FIFA in a statement. Only 58%? I would have thought it would have been higher. The number of injuries fell from 2.7 per match in 2002 to 2.3 per match in 2006. That means there was a total of 145 injuries in the 64 matches a decline that some attribute to better officiating. FIFA president Sepp Blatter said: “I am very satisfied with the referees’ performances at the 2006 World Cup. They achieved more than their counterparts in Korea/Japan in 2002.” If blowing calls, handing out cards like a drug dealer on a street corner and affecting the outcomes of games is a measurement of success, than His Seppness is entirely correct. http://www.worldcupblog.org/world-c...ring-world-cup-were-not-actually-injured.html
So, in other words, it'd be like Rafer throwing some cool streetball moves only to brick a floater. Got it.
Yeah but did any of those produce a slam (goal), assist or even an assist to an assist? Did any of those even lead to an shot attempt?
baseball is boring too...i cant watch a game between the royals and the blue jays...but i still like it when my team is playing
im watching that video. and im just waiting for a guy to scream OH BABY.!!!!!!!. OH BABY!!! THE PROFESSA! thats MY GOD SON!!
Sorry I hijack this thread... SamFisher, IIRC Liverpool is your favorite soccer club, they will be playing in a friendlie against a local club here in Hong Kong, South China FC, about 4 hours later. Martin Tyler will be commenting the match for ESPN, not sure it will be broadcasted in States, if so, the match begins at 8:30am Houston Time I believe.
Drew Carrey likes soccer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv5FZvzrYdA <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lv5FZvzrYdA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lv5FZvzrYdA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Man, can people be any more stupid. Dude was penalized for flopping, he got a yellow card!!! Flopping is an ugly part of the game that needs to be weeded out.
Just b/c someone is NOT injured does not mean they were not in pain at the time of the incident. Football players pull up lame all the time after minimal contact and carried off the field but are not injured. Does that make them weak too? I understand flopping does occur and needs to be penalized more often and severly. No sport is perfect. Those who have never played don't know how those nicks and kicks in the shins and ankles hurt especially when at full speed. I would love to organize a game for all you who say it is a woose sport and see how many of you can handle the contact/aggressive play. No one is asking you all to watch or like the sport, just stop going out of your way to bash something just for the sake of it; you guys really start to live up to the stereotype of the typical arrogant narrow minded American the rest of the world hates.
Arno - sorry for the late reply. You are right, I am also excited for the first time in yeaaaars. Makaay, Hofland, v Bronckhorst... Wow! Great players, though they need to perform in the next two years as they're getting old. Also, Drenthe! Excited about him as a prospect. He played so well during the European Championships... how was he at Feyenoord?
