Amidst the recent performance woes, the injuries to Lowry and Ariza, and the lack of a trade splash at the moment, many members have been feeling down or upset. This video, especially from 3:45 and onwards (Yao's Willis Reed moment), should offer some form of solace. How quickly have fans forgetten and taken for granted what was a spectacular playoff run in less than a year ago. Imagine if Yao and Deke had not gotten injured, how far we may have gone. Oh, those were the memories. And as memories, they should never be forgotten. And the following video should help bring back those memories. Watching Yao in the tunnel, begging Keith Jones to go back into the game still gives me goosebumps. A valiant effort put forth by Yao and the rest of the team has been this team's calling card last season and this season; a beautiful symphony of hard work, blood (literally, go ask Shane in game 1 against LA), and tears that need not be forgotten, but remembered. For the heart and camaraderie this team embodies is rare in a league of me-first players. As for the recent news that we are probably not acquiring Butler or Iguodala, sure it is understandably disconcerting at first, but picture the Rockets team in the future with Yao back. The following video should offer a glimpse of the ability of this team next season. Yao coming back and staying healthy next year is a big IF undoubtedly. However, IF his road to recovery continues progressing as smoothly as it has been, adding him to an Rockets lineup which has improved from last season (Brooks & Landry's emergence, addition of Budinger, and possibly a lottery pick in the upcoming draft), maybe the absence of the services of Butler or Iguodala is the appropriate move to make, as we would have likely given up young talent in return. So, enjoy the video...and in the down time of all star weekend, before all of us, Rockets fans go back to daily grind of scrutinizing every loss and celebrating every win as if it was a matter of life and death when the regular season returns, please cheer up!

Dallas 32 20 San Antonio 30 21 Houston 27 24 Look at our record!! We only have 3 more losses than the Spurs and 4 More than the Mavs and both those teams are at full strength! If u told us at the beginning of the season that we would be only 3 games back of the mavs and spurs at the all star break with our current squad (minus tmac and yao) would u believe that to be a realistic goal???
The reason I am pissed is because we might be looking at 5 plus years before we are a true contender again. DM will either pull a star out of the hat, or we need to tank...
Our team depends on Yao and how he recovers from his injury...we go as far as Yao takes us... Houston is a very intriguing place for free agents because of Yao Ming and the ability to play with a star center...Everyone in the nba knows this is the hardest playing team which will also attract free agents...we can land a good player in the offseason
yao isnt taking us anywhere. we need a mobile big and a star wing player to win with today's rules. this.
While that is a legitimate concern, especially coming from a reasonable poster, I don't think that qualifies as a legitimate reason for constant gloom & doom threads. We are fans, not management. If we lose sight of any positives simply because were re-re-re-re-scrutinizing every move management has (or worse, hasn't yet) made, basketball discussion just becomes negative. We have a lot of negative things in our lives.. basketball isn't supposed to add to it. I don't mean to direct this at you, your post just got me thinking.
I disagree with half of what you say. You can win with Yao but you must have a star wing player. So half of what you say is right.
Agreed, and a very good point. We are spoiled in Houston I guess. Here is to hoping we find an identity and a new direction in a couple days...
yeah, but what are you drinking right now? My guess would be the leftover Christmas ale (aka, Holidaley Ale), which I'm just now polishing off.
Yao was so huge in that game 1 against LA. I just know that Yao will come back healthy and ready to go. He always comes back from his injuries and puts up. He'll do it again.
Yes Morey 5 days to get this ship on course for the playoffs or straight to a iceberg and down to the lottery. Come Thursday night I will drunk happy or drunk depressed.
From the looks of it, if Morey even makes a deal, it'll be for an average to good talent (Tyrus Thomas, Jared Jeffries, etc) and some expiring contracts. But, it's looking like we'll sit on McGrady's contract. And I had my hopes up the past two months with all these Iguodala, Butler rumors.
Finally somebody is optimistic. Seriously this has been the best thread for this week, and it's no joke.
