Why would you assume that? He seemed somewhat proud of himself and rather flippant about the whole thing. I think it was relevant in that it's sickening how many people in today's society have no problem furthering themselves at the expense of others through dishonesty.
Indeed. Epic thread. I think rezdawg did finally learn his lesson, though. He stopped posting in here like he said he would.
Here is something else I want to address. I don't want to reign in on the party but does this board really function like a family gathering? Family? I mean, this board has the glorious D&D, fans of the other teams, fans of Tracy , fans of cheating. I see it more as a miniature of our society. We have the young-lings and the aged, the numbnut and the wisecracks, the high rollers and the low life, the law-abiding citizens and the cons. Looks like a very dysfunctional family to me. The way I see it, some people are just using the word family to guilt-trip others into covering for one of "our own". It has the polar opposite effect on me because I do not like to be grouped with those with low moral convictions.
This is an interesting point. I have someone close to me who is experiencing something very difficult, and it revolves around the "blood is blood" mantra. Being part of a "family" doesn't excuse behavior that would otherwise be inexcusable.
For the context's discussed, fraud in his case is pretty much like cheating in school. Lying/deception in order to gain some advantage in career advancement. The logic of both is entitlement. I know I can do it, therefore I should get to do it; whether or not I've actually proven myself able to do it. Its funny you mention cheating in elementary/middle/high school is somewhat shrugged off. I agree, but the point is that most people grow out of that phase and typically don't cheat later on in life. For Rez its as if he was never taught that cheating is wrong and thus he'll never grow out of that phase.
I noticed a sharp decline in buffoonery after I posted my body fat percentage. That's how it's done kids. I think pppbigppp brings up an interesting point about members who view this board as a closely knit family (which you really shouldn't considering the nature of the internet), and the expectations they have for family members to look past the flaws of their own blood. Their own little saplings. Are we not human? Do we not share a common, ancestral history? It's a cruel, cruel world out there... shouldn't the BBS be our sanctuary? Unfortunately, when you're an idiot, you pay the cost regardless. You drive drunk, you're going to jail. You masturbate on your wife's sister when she's sleeping, it ends in divorce. You call out tinman in the GARM, you're getting snitched on. You try to reason with DaDakota, you're getting a migraine. And in this case, if you dig your own grave, deeper and deeper, despite being 250k in debt and knowing you aren't sharpest tool in the shed, you'll pay the price. My father always told me the prouder the man, the larger the fall. And it's been glaringly evident in the train wreck that was rezdawg posting in this thread. The fight is on.
That's not normal to have that in a family? I have all of that in my extended family but do see what you are trying to say. But some people on the board feel like they can open up and not be judged in away that would be detrimental to themselves personally. At least that's what I though until all this happened. Oh and kinda of the stuff with FattyFatBastard. Funny, but sad.
Here's also an example of how you have to be careful of accusing someone of deception before you have all the facts- that person who said she received the files 2 hours earlier? She's in Oregon and I'm in Texas. So she was right and I was wrong- which is why I never accused her of anything- could you imagine if I would have said, "Ma'am, I know you're lying because I sent these two hours after you said you received them..." and then she would have told me she's 2 hours ahead in Oregon? Wow. I'm an idiot. She did admit to never having sent the follow-up, though, so she did try to "alter" information. Man, it's so much easier when lies aren't involved.
Whew... Project sent to client March 17. Client said she sent email approving of the main document, which they have to do in order to receive the supplemental documents within 2 days. Client never sent message. Client lied and said she did. Client also said she received document via email on Tuesday, 11:30 PM, which I thought was also a lie because I sent on Wednesday at 1:30 AM. Wrong about the 2nd because she was on Pacific time. I was correct about the first and client apologized, said she forgot the original and then tried to lie about it so she could receive the 2nd documents right away. Whole point about this and the entire thread in general: cheating and lying are to be avoided at all costs, as well as admitting to it in an online forum if you happen to do it, because they can cause trouble, whether immediate or down the road.
I only found it through another thread. I've never been one to read through every single thread on the bbs. I have better things to do with my time
