The person has serious issues. This could've wrecked someone's career/life. Yes, rezdawg's hubris/stubbornness contributed to the mess, but so did the snake in the grass who contacted the dental school/news outlet.
Moreover, it destroyed whatever trust/security there used to be in Clutchfans. Members discussing their boss/co-workers/political+social beliefs/connections/etc all now have to think twice before posting any personal information -> what used to make CF so awesome. Now I have to treat this like Facebook/Twitter where snitches lurk in the dark, waiting to stab you. If you snitch, man up and confront the person you ratted on. Nothing worse than a nemesis that you can't see.

    I'm kinda torn.

On the one hand this reeks of douchebaggery...but on the other hand...

Don't assume that just because this is the Internet, you can get away with s***. If anything, total anonymity makes everyone MORE likely to snitch if they get really pissed. Thank god most people are too lazy, but don't take a chance on making things too big. Say you cheated, make a funny anecdote...move on. If you make it a big deal it will become a big deal.

Community or not...CF is probably one of the better ones on this but I honestly try not to link this account with my personal identity because on the Internet, who knows who's out there...lurking, pissed off and bored.

I agree with this. It ignores the fact that you may be going to a better dentist who is probably thinking of how to cheat you out of more money.

    LOL...

Not a chance. I just read through this stuff for the first time right before my first post yesterday.

And I wouldn't snitch. I just understand why someone did. I put the responsibility for that on Rez. That's all.

You'll never get personal info out of me on this board. :) NOOOOO thank you.

Damn... I just read the first and last few pages. Crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if the douchebag was some 14 year old.

I, too, thought this was a place where we're all like family and supported one another. Then I remember all the annoying pre-teenagers in the GARM. Lesson learned I guess...

I'm not saying what Rez did in the past was right, but damn man, seriously? What that child did was far worse than being a Jazz and Mavs fan combined.

This is a good opportunity for us to delete any traces of Twitter, Facebook, myspace, etc. from our signatures or info's. I hope Clutch gets rid of this thread on the quick.

That's not particularly personal or private to me. :) My last name is in my screen name also - but again, nothing I'm trying to hide there. Just keeps me from having to remember passwords to a million different usernames all over the place.

Welcome to the real world. This is the internet. For every regular poster you recognize there's probably 100 lurkers reading along.

I'm still amazed at how much stupid stuff people put on their myspace/facebook/twitters that can incriminate themselves later. One simple google search by a job interviewer can bring all that stuff up in a second.

It's now part of what I have to do when I provide the advice on job search- cleaning up one's online presence. I tell clients not only to check Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, but also to Google their name and make sure there aren't any negative comments floating around out there- example, one time I got really ticked off at an Amazon review (calling The Who "worthless"- do you blame me?) and called the guy a few names that are not printable. I Googled my name a few years later as part of this thing I mentioned earlier, and sure enough, my comments to him appeared- this is why I use my full name- I force myself to be careful about anything I reveal on the Internet. Luckily, I had the ability to delete my response to the reviewer.

But, yes, everyone should Google or Yahoo their name at least once per year to see what's out there- for the Steven Johnsons and Tim Smiths, you may have to qualify your Google search, like Steven Johnson Houston Texas. If you're in job search, delete all the weird stuff from places like Facebook, Twitter, and especially Linked In- employers and recruiters definitely use that a great deal. They also sometimes search credit reports, too, so try to minimize late payments, chargeoffs, collections, etc., especially if you're in a field like Finance or Human Resources.

The lesson I learned is don't post personal stuff on here. I've been a member of this board for years and have read all sorts of things in various threads. I never would have imagined someone here dropping the dime on another member. Maybe on the Lakers board, but not here. That's just ghey....

Well you can post personal stuff but do it in a cryptic way. The best that I have seen at doing this is Deckard. The dude has told us his stories about seeing Hendrix and all these other legendary music acts and some of his sexual conquests. Yet, to this day, I doubt that there is anyone here who even knows the dude's real name!

I mean what happened to rezdawg should be a real eye opener to all of us about posting personal stuff in our lives. If you can be vague and cryptic like a Deckard then you should have nothing to worry about. However, if you know that what you are posting can be traced to your real name and then brought up in a search (like dandorotik was talking about), then you have said too much.

Rez deleted all his posts now, but he mentioned something about the person contacting a news channel now. We're not sure what actually happened, but someone guessed that a news reporter might have tried to get in contact with him. Either way, like someone said earlier......all this had done is made the BBS a worse place. The trust and camaraderie we have on here has been deeply affected by all this, and that's unfortunate. The Hangout was a great place because people could really say what they were feeling, and even though they might catch some grief on the board, you always knew it would stay on the board. I hope the snitch got the satisfaction they were looking for.
