Just saw the Seattle police chief on the news stating that there were crimes happening inside the "zone" and that the police could not respond to them. Crimes including rape , theft , extortion .... Her words , not mine , not 10 minutes ago.
This could be good actually... maybe have a little zone like this for every city, a few designated square blocks with gardens, citizens PEACEFULLY self policing each other, free non GMO trade etc.

Those were what Seattle police chief Carmen Best confirmed as the crimes that were known to have occurred in the CHAZ in a news interview about half an hour ago. Extortion was one of them along with rape and theft. If you want to argue , argue with her ....

They're not getting them because no one is having to report any criminal activity -- the LPA maintains a significant police force with zero tolerance for violent crime.
Just like COVID, im going to ask people to see the actual reports and studies first. Stop believing everything from a voice of 'authority'. This is how religious wars get stated. Its not that authority isnt to be trusted, it could be wrong. Or could be lying. Or misinformed. Or misunderstood. Sure, there could have been a bunch of thugs going around demanding tribute. Maybe someone got raped and they couldn't investigate the scene because it was in a high traffic area and no witnesses. And of course there is going to be theft and vandals. This is just another day in a riot.
My wife has had a lot of involvement in homeless based charities, activities and talking with the homeless. Homelessness is bad in all the major cities. Some are more likely to harass the homeless than others. For example some of the larger cities in the South are known to have police escort homeless to the greyhound bus terminal and give them a ticket. Other times they are beaten by the local police in cities in the South. Areas like California and Washington State are attractive because of the weather and in some cases, quality of support and resources available and the climate is beneficial. There is a terrible homeless problem in Chicago. The difference between Chicago and a place like Seattle is that in Chicago the police turn the hoses on “tent cities” once they become visible from the freeway or citizens start complaining. The appeal of big cities is their easy or transportation and resources. Many of the homeless have untreated mental disorders that lead to substance abuse. Rather than complain about the poor, people should concern themselves with the underlying causes. Truck stops have 12-18 year old girls and boys that are runaways having sex with “upstanding citizens”... they are usually homeless. There are many illegal aliens that are homeless, many addicts and many children. Income inequality needs to be addressed and adequate mental health and financial safeguards in place.
I once saw a homeless lady walk into a Seller's with soiled pants. She reeked. The cashier told me that she comes in often and that they give her food. I usually tell that story when someone says that homeless people need to get a job. Then, there are homeless who ain't about to work all their lives just to pay bills and then die. They are the original woke people. Most of them seemed like cool people back when I would try and talk with them.
My grandpa lived to be 103. I asked him before he died what’s the best advice considering he lived over a century and he said “believe nothing that you hear or read and only half that you see” ...so true in these times
