while this trade works salary wise .. the nuggets and sixers are taking back 5 and 6 additional players respectively... what are they going to do with that many extra players?
People are fools to think Melo+Billups wouldn't take us 1 step closer to the Ring. Will we be as good as the Lakers? Not sure, but i know we will be better than our current squad. We want to win Now, not in 3 years where AB might be better. If not we may as well always be in a rebuilding stage.....because when/if AB gets to that All-star level, Scola/Yao will be 33 (assuming Yao is even around), KM will be (30), blah blah blah.
This is just wrong on so many levels, sure they want to win now...IF, Yao is healthy....because there is no winning now if the big fella is broken... So, you have to find out FIRST, if he is going to hold up, make an informed decision. Not a hasty one. DD
AB is considered as an average starting PG league wise. There are about 10 definitely better than him, and another 20 PG's arguably on similar overall level. Good and replaceable commodity type player IMO.
people undervalue AB , we have to keep in mind he only started playing a year and a half ago and last year was his first full year as a starter.... he is going to get better.. how good was billups his first 3 yrs in the league? alot of national people dont think highly of brooks bc he is more of a scoring pg, but thats what we have needed from him since he has taken over the job. lets see how he does now that he has some help offensively and will have training camp to mesh with them
Wow! That trade really only looses two major assets for the Rox ... AB & SB. Probably why it's not realistic. But also remember the Knicks picks ... we don't want to facilitate melo going to NY w/ A'mare cause then they loose serious value.
Yeah but none of those players are the MIP. If he can improve the way Durant did this season, that moves him into the top 5 PG'd discussion. I'm talking 24 and 8, 43% 3's, while challenging the record for most 3's in a season by any player. This isn't likely, but not far fetched. When he quits improving faster than EVERYBODY IN THE LEAGUE, we'll know what we have.
While more points & assists are nice. And a higher FT% is always welcome. Those are not really the part of his game in most need of improvement.
How about scola's 20/20 and other big numbers last season after the landry trade? At the rate how much scola improved from pre-trade to post-trade, he will be a 20/10 player this season and 25/12 player in 2012. And how about Durant keep improving and average 35,38,40 points in next few years(he's also younger than AB)? Lack of capable sub(landry post-trade and lowry injury late season), increased playing time(scola and AB played big minutes later), and offesive freedom(No yao,landry,martin-injury in late season) all contributed to their 'improvement'.
Well Morey would definitely disagree with this because he has said the Rockets want to make this a special year BEFORE THE LOCKOUT!
Well if Yao is not healthy then I dont know who is going to lead us to the ship the year after this one. We would definitely be in rebuild mode. UNLESS... We get Carmelo and build around him instead if Yao is not hurt. And what I mean by building around Carmelo is getting CP3 in 2012.
BINGO man, people don't realize, if we get Melo, in 2012, we are near top of the list for CP3, which means getting Billups for 3 year won't be so bad. Getting Melo is a catalyst to get other great players to join this team, if Billups has to come, you make it happen.
Give me the Chauncey of 5 years ago and I'd be interested. At thirty four, on the decline .....no......unless it's the price of getting Carmelo. Does Chauncey's Mr. Bigshot contract run out after next year ? The guy I want back with Melo is Birdman.
