If you watch it in slow-mo, it seems like he was already that high before Davis bumped him. It doesn't seem like Davis assisted him to me.
I was watching this live and seen him coming around getting ready to put it back if necessary and WOW white boi got hops
Davis' shoulder was halfway up Chase's ass on that play...even in the screenshot you posted. I think some people are taking for granted how little force it takes to boost someone up when they're already jumping. Even a slight bump from a guy as solid as Glen Davis would make a noticeable difference. I should probably just go ahead and say that I love watching Chase play, and hope someday he can be a starter for this team. When he was out for that stretch of games with the sprained ankle, I found myself not even caring to watch. So this isn't a matter of hating on the guy...I just can't agree with the perpetuation of false information.
It looked extremely badass, I agree. And even with a boost, it took a great amount of concentration to complete the put back. But that's not my point...
Glen Davis' shoulder is limiting the height of his jump -- it's certainly not helping increase his vertical.
If you're going to say that Davis' force knocked Bud up a few inches because Davis is so big or whatever then the horizontal component of that same force should have under cut him. You see his legs go out a little bit from Davis' bump but unless chase also went flying towards the backboard or Davis was directly underneath him, that was all Chase. Draw out a diagram, label your forces and solve for X! .
Davis was jumping too, therefore his upward force was transferred to Chase. Please explain to me how that limited Chase's vertical...
Not sure when I've seen someone get hit by someone else's shoulder and go up. Come on, guys, Baby would've had to squat under him and push him up. All Baby did was knock him off balance.
it clearly was to me, Chase already elevated halfway into his jump when he bumped sideways with Glen, Chase had to corkscrew his body a bit because of the bump
So you're saying with one shoulder, Baby forced over 200+ pounds into the air vertically not by squatting it, but by jumping vertically into it? The strength in that man! If you also look at the screen cap, you'll see Baby's shoulder and forearm are pushing against Chase's butt which would knock him off balance, not push him up higher.
I think Chase benefited from a Big Baby bump. But it didnt help the "height" of the vertical. It let Chase hang in place at his highest point a .09th second longer to 1 hand grab the ball then put 2 hands on it. Here's a dunk where you can he got a little boost UP from contact. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cOO9GAJo03w&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cOO9GAJo03w&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
