Amen. Chase already has the skills needed to be a NBA swingman. Everyone could see that the minute he set foot on the court for the Rockets. Ariza might never develop those skills, and will most likely become the heir apparent to Shane Battier. Make no mistake though, Ariza is definitely worth the MLE.

Thanks for recognizing. 10 overall, it is something the people clamoring for Lowry fail to realize, Brooks only has Scola as a closer.....give him one more and remove one of Trevor or Battier and he looks a LOT better as a PG. But, hey, it is difficult to explain that to ...uh...some folks. DD
Hey, I just got back from the game. What a night! My fiance bought me the tix for Christmas. I took my cousin. 1.We got the Brooks Bobblehead. 2. We got the box signed by (in order of apperance) Brian Cook, Carl Landry, Chase Budinger, Chuck Hayes, Aaron Brooks, and Clyde Drexler. 3. Suprisingly to me, Mcgrady comes back. 4. The Rockets kick butt, lead all game, play great basketball. And..... #5 I called the first Budinger double double. Typical day for a guru.
I don't think you're giving Shane credit when you say that: 1. I doubt Ariza will ever come close to Shane's BBall IQ- big help preparing for games and helping the younger guys. 2. Although Ariza has natural talent for defense, I don't think he'll ever be as smart, as dedicated, or as cool-headed on defense as the Shane we saw guarding Kobe in the playoffs last year. 3. Ariza definitely does not have the mental effect, on and off the court, in the lockerroom that a guy like Shane's got. Shane's almost a Dikembe in this respect, you can see him chatting up the officials with a smile, chatting up the media, encouraging the other guys. He's a huge asset to the team in this respect. That said I do think Ariza is already better offensively, and will probably continue to get better. However, I don't think he's critical to the team, and I wouldn't really care which way coach and GM go with him.
Agreed with everything except heir apparent. Ariza should be the starting SF right now with Battier coming off the bench. Budinger and Ariza are going to be solid contributors for years to come, why not get them ready for Yao's return right now? We can't progress very far in the playoffs without more height at center, anyway.
Not this fan. I pointed out a long while ago that Chase is the best rebounder on this team that doesn't play a power forward or center position. There are two things that Chase does more consistently than shoot the ball with a buttery stroke: 1. Run the floor perfectly, and 2. Rebound the ball, especially on the defensive end. I don't know who the coach at Arizona is, but he deserves a lot of praise. This kid was really well coached.
Lute Olsen?!?!?!????????????????? Hellooooo!?!????? He recruited Chase and was his coach for only his freshman year before he left. So yeah.........he was well coached , atleast during his freshman year.
