We should get Budinger into the Slam Dunk contest this year. He can go after the "token white guy" spot, and then surprise them by showing that he has real hops and win the whole thing.

What you don't want to be as a GM is the guy that traded away a GREAT player.

I think Morey knows Chase has all the tools, and unless he gets a true superstar in return, he is untouchable.

I like Chase and hope he remains, but the video (good job, btw) shows one defensive highlight and one pass. Indicative of the current weakness in his game. Next year we would want to see improvement.

No question that Chase appears to be a hard worker and will improve.

You are confusing weakness with his role.

He was not asked to be a facilitator, but a finisher........he can do both, but he was playing his role.

On D, he had his moments, played well at times and got burned at times.....typical rookie.

    Nice mix!

CBud reminds me more of a Reggie Miller, the dude has game.

Not complaining at all and I agree with you on Bud.

He has the tools to improve in both areas, thus expanding his role.

22 year old SF's that play with such a high IQ, look like veterans on the court and have so much potential are pretty rare in the league trust me.

rare =/= value. CBud is "rare" in the sense that there are ~100 SFs in the NBA and indeed most of them don't fit the narrow criteria you've mentioned. But there are a lot of wing players I'd take over Budinger, long term or short term.

If another team ask Budinger as part of a package for Bosh or a top 5 pick, I wouldn't care for a second to see him gone.

A top 5 pick? Why? They have a high bust rate too.....

    We know Chase can play.

A Bud in the hand is worth 2 in the Bosh.

I would not be too surprised if Morey traded away Ariza and or Battier in order to give Bud the starter spot if he improves defensively over the summer. It would be a move similar to the Rafer/lowry trade where it was Addition by subtraction to make room for AB to thrive. But giving up our 2 small forwards RIGHT NOW would be a major blow defensively. He cannot hold guys like Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James. Also if Kevin Martin gets hurt he perfect to step right in and might even make us better defensively at the 2 spot.

So you're saying that if Washington GM was on crack and offered Morey the #1 pick for Budinger, you wouldn't do that trade in a nanosecond because "John Wall may be a bust, while Budinger is known to be a rotation player?"

You may have 60 thousand posts, but thank god none of them actually impacts Morey's decision-making. Or we might get stuck in mediocrity forever.

I think any none superstar is replaceable, but I have a hard time getting rid of my younger talent that shows upside. I didn't want landry gone, but we had scola and the kings didn't want scola. Brooks, hill, chase should be the last players the rockets think about getting rid of. I really think they should just play it out and after the season decide what they're going to do. No one they bring in will propel them to the lakers level with a limited yao. Chase may not be the pg/sf tracy was, but off those curls, he makes good passes to the screen slipper. Rip and Reggie did the same and i hope he gets those guys toughness and competitive spirit.

Don't be stupid, of course you make that trade, but only for the number 1 pick.

Because as good as Evan Turner is.......CBud has done it in the NBA.

Exactly, and who knows whether one of the young guys takes over...Brooks is already showing signs of that.

Chase Budinger is like Sam Cassell, in terms of being an asset of the organization. You would be sorry if you traded a young talented player who would ultimately become an All-star.

In other words, if Budinger re-enters the draft this year, and the Rockets pick #2 in the draft, you'd pick Budinger NUMBER 2?

    They have a point...

DD's way overrating Chase. He could be a very good player, but he's no Evan Turner. If he re-entered the draft I would take him at 14 though.

YES that is exactly what he is saying. And drafting Von Wafer number 3, because "he has done it in the NBA". Thank god for Morey.
