Sure I can, but most of it is because of contract etc... Martin makes $10 million and has gone down in his percentages the last few years....and is injured a lot. Trevor makes $6 million and can't dribble a basketball or stay in front of his man on D. Shane is 31 years old.....great guy, but getting up there. I would keep Chase over all 3 of them......... DD
Pretty much. Personally, if martin misses those chunkc again, I'm moving him. I think chase has the better skillset out of alll of them. He's probably the best ball handler and one of the better catch and shoot guy on the team. The challenge with chase is how bad does he was to be great.
Chase is a nice player with a good overall game, but reading these comments, people are seriously overrating him. He's a good spot-up shooter and is a threat on the fast break but I don't really see much else to his game. We'll see if he can add to his dribble-drive and pick-n-roll game but I see him as a career rotation bench player. This guy averaged 9 ppg this year and ppl suggest he's a 20 ppg offensive juggernaut in the making. His scoring ability isn't great. I believe JT serves the role of offensive dynamo off the bench better than Chase. Chase is replaceable, however he certainly should have been a 1st rounder last year. I would rather replace/improve his production.
Not implying JT is a better player than Chase. Strictly speaking about being the scorer off the bench - the guy you can run the offense through.
From a skills point of view, he can be like reggie or rip, but does he have the competitve spirit as those guys? Kevin martin as a player is as good as reggie, but from a toughness standpoint its not even close. Thats the hurdle chase needs to clear and thats what has dogged him since his earlier days. If chase was as competitve as say wafer, then i could say he's going to be an all star calibe player. Peja was a really good player in his prime with his size and ability to shoot over people, but when the game was close e disappeared.
I agree totally with this post. It is really up to CBud what kind of player he would like to be. He has the rare combination of talent, skill, court awareness and high basketball IQ.
Lets not get carried away here. I love Bud but Martin is much more valuable as a prolific scorer and efficient player in his prime. He's perfect for our system. Ariza/Battier, yeah, you can make a case that bud is more valuable then them. I think Martin/Budinger is a lethal SG combo in similar fashion to our Brooks/Lowry PG combo. Starter a pure shooting/scoring threat and bench guy an agressive penetrator and above average defender. That backcourt is championship caliber. Our frontcourt is all that needs bolstering.
I 100% agree... If Yao goes down, we need to prepare for a youth movement. Use some of these vets to teach the younger guys how to play "Rocket", hardnose basketball...
Don't be obtuse.....I think Martin is staying.....in fact, I don't think anyone is being traded, or moved. DD
