It was actually a pretty optimistic preview for Rosen. He did give some of his patented "can't play a lick of defense" lines here and there, but overall, it wasn't as harsh as his previous articles.

His shtick is to be the cynical old man on Foxsports. Not sure what people were expecting him to say about a team that hasn't done anything in the playoffs for quite some time. That being said, I'm hoping that the Rockets prove to be a better team than he projects them to be.

What a tool! The thing about Mutombo being older is clearly meant to irritate him, Deke has said many time he didn't like the jokes.

And by saying Moutombo could have retired years ago, he completely dismiss the wonderfull run he had last year when Yao was out.
His take on Scola proves too that he knows nothing about him, so why bother trying to give an opinion about someone you don't know?

    The power of CLUTCHFANS..

We're at 17% with roughly 1500 votes. I know we can influence this poll EASILY if we come together....

how can people intelligently say that deke "should have retired" years ago. Perhaps they missed his multiple 10+ rebound games when yao went down

Man, I would love to have a job like his, where all I need to do is bend over backwards, listen to the sounds that come out of my a$$, write any stupid thing I can think of, get paid, and oh yeah still be considered an 'expert'.

    Rosen is a complete tool.

But then again, what would the last week of preseason be every year without the obligatory 'bash that idiot Rosen' thread?

to his (somewhat overrated) credit, he seems to hate on many teams equally.

gotta love the way he completely dismisses hayes, mutumbo, and head.

I agree. You cant have a 7'6 player who has been dominant (Yes, dominant) 17 feet away from the basket...I hope this new offense works out and brings the most out of Yao.

"...can't score with a pencil." C'mon you have to admit that was kind of funny.

I thought this was actually not TOO bad considering the source. And yes, we have to EARN respect.

Not too bad of a review. Scola will have to adjust to nba rules and stay away from foul trouble. Head is streaky and lets be honest, he does suck at passing.

How nice that your very first post is calling me an 'idiot.' Well be that as it may, we may each have our own interpretation of what Rosen says. The overall context suggests that he doesn't consider us a serious contender. He very clearly says that we are a sleeper. Sleeper does not equal contender.

I'm fine with differing opinions on how good the Rockets are and I agree we don't know yet. But when people use the same ole' recycled garbage to critique the Rockets (i.e. Yao's stamina issues), then I know they're not getting a fair shake. All I'm saying is that is typical of Rosen. But whether or not you consider me an idiot or not...makes no difference for to me! ;)

One more thing to those that like to complain about 'preview' threads or 'whining.' Why do you spend time keeping such threads alive then? The fact is that you are interested in what other people say about the Rockets or you wouldn't read this thread little lone respond. Just ignore it, if you like, but hey some of us care what other's say and we can admit it. So, we like to talk about it! Get over it!

The only thing that offends me about this is how unfunny it is.

I don't care about Rosen, his stuff is always garbage no matter who he writes about. As I have posted before, I could care less what any guys in the media say. We earned respect when we won two championships in a row, but the media never gave it to us back then either. We man never get any respect from the media, but they don't give out trophy do they. We can prove to them that we can get past the first round, prove that we can get to the finals and win and still not get respect. Who cares, just win.

My biggest wish is to be the team that no body in the media thinks will win and take Larry O'Brien and shove it up there buttocks when we win.
