Yeah I wish I knew more about the situation from an insider POV. I mean we finally went to a spread set and it seemed D.Carr looked more comfortable. Was Capers feeling the pressure to let Palmer call those plays. Or has Palmer always had the green light to be in sets like that. I know one thing the 6 TE 1 WR 2 RB Set isnt worth a damn...
Not sure why Palmer would be fired since he didn't choose to get Buchanon and Babin. Babin had ONE assist today. Is that not terrible, even for a young 2nd year guy? Wasn't he supposed to rack up some decent sack totals? He can't even get decent assist totals! I don't know if Buchanon is that bad yet...he hasn't look too great but he's not a scrub. He has had 9 solo tackles thus far- not bad. His effort on that TD was brutal though. Seems like Casserly does a lot of wishful thinking, so he overpays or takes ridiculous risks for guys. Boselli, Buchanon, Babin, Bennie Joppru, etc. They are a new kind of Killer B's.
He's done pretty darn well with such a horrible offensive line and surrounding cast. He's had 1,000 yard rushing seasons both years (without playing all 16 games) and gotten a ton of receptions as well. I think he could be the feature RB for quite a few years.
I would imagine that a majority of those solos came from wrs catching balls on him. cbs put up better numbers when they are picked on.
Interesting post(s) from a Redskin fan in this post back in 2002 http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=32163&highlight=CASSERLY
Palmer has a track record for actually airing it out when given the opportunity. The offense he constructed in Jacksonville was as dynamic as any in the NFL, and it made big names out of guys like Brunell, Taylor and Jimmy Smith... and got them within one game of the SB. I wouldn't be suprised if it is Capers wanting to control the line of scrimmage, or Palmer throwing his hands up in the air because this team that Casserly has constructed can't execute the simple plays (which means they won't be able to handle the more complex downfield ones). In the end, however, it may be this team's DEFENSE that is its biggest problem. They made Losman look like a MVP candidate last week... and then yesterday, TB's defense made him look WORSE than Carr did against Buffalo. We have even less of a pass rush now, and Buchannon (while he may have some talent left) has less than 1/8th the heart that Aaron Glenn had, especially when this franchise first started. So, we can't sack a QB, and we can't defend the secondary.... you're not going to win any games like that, even if you do have the #1 offense in the league.
yes, but for the record, that process started in 1982. the oilers didn't win or reach the playoffs again until 1987 and that was replacement-player aided (they won two games the real oilers probably would have lost at denver and at cleveland). if people are frustrated 2 games into year 4 (and justifiably), i don't think anyone would have been too terribly thrilled with a 5-6 year waiting period.
Dunta is awesome. And Domanick Davis will probably have another 1,000 yard rushing season. That's about it.
Does anyone know what years Casserly was the GM for the Redskins. Looking at their drafts during the 90s I wonder how Casserly kept his job so long.
